Amazing & Fan-tastic !!!
Curious -
How many grandchildren do you have ??

I just noticed it has 3 cooling fans on the top of the engine. That would make it a EMD GP40. Does the unit number match up to what B&O had on its GP40's?

Thanks again,
I saw three fans on top in one of the pictures so i made them. Not sure about the numbers. I have one grandson who will be three next week. I know nothing about trains so i got lucky.

Are there plans to run it? Out here, there is a nice park/track system for large scale trains, 6300' of track in 7 1/2" and 4 3/4" gauge. Their trains may be a bit smaller though. It is really cool when they have their Spring and Fall meets; they have people show up with trains from all over the Western states and Canada. Have seen 50-60 trains, some real live steamers. It is really cool to check out, and to go on rides.

Used to know a couple folks that run the track here in Sacramento; for the Fall/Spring meets some of the folks from Medford come down. Sacramento folks go up to Medford too.

It is really cool to go to the big meets, see all the various trains, go for rides...

If you want to power it EMDs are 2 stroke diesels. EMD was under GM DIESEL for a long time and was eventually it's own division, but at it's roots it's still an old school GM DIESEL. You could find like a 2-71 or 2-53 GM/Detroit Diesel which are also 2 stroke but much smaller in scale than the EMD. Those are both 2 cylinder engines, the 53 is smaller than the 71. (53 and 71 are cu-in per cyl) You could also look into the 3,4, and 6 cyl versions of each if you have the room. (they didn't make a straight 6-53 though, they only came in V). Good luck that thing is awesome!!!!
