Waldon, you definitely have a gift, and a LOT of patience..!! Thanks so much for posting the pics..!! I too am curious as to how many hours you have in something like that. Definitely a labor of love...

You mentioned loading it for the long trip to VA. So DO you show these models, and is there a group that builds this size models..?? THAT would be something to see..!!

OK..., got to ask... I noticed a pic of a shovel hanging on the wall in the one series of pictures, and looks to be setting in front of your shop. Would that be the Silver Spade..?? It'd be pretty cool to build a scale of "Big Muskie", largest dragline in the world. I got to see her run the last time she was ran. Sadly she was scrapped, due to, it just kept breaking itself. There is one plus... No tracks..!! She walked..!!

I've worked for Union Pacific RR in Kansas for 37 years. The last 34 years as an engineer. I don't think I ever seen a locomotive engine that clean! Gonna have to throw some bugs, dead birds, spilled diesel fuel, leaking oil etc on it. Oh and don't forget that occasional deer that wanders out in front of the train . I ran a GP38 on a local last Saturday with the same style control stand. A very realistic model. The builder has a great eye for detail. JP

Thanks very much for all the kind words. I had no idea if I could build a train engine. I always loved trains but never knew much about them. I downloaded 3 dozen pictures and had the four drawings from a train book and the rest was guesswork. There is a collector who loves my one of a kind models and over the years he has managed to get over 50 of them. He wants to open a Don Campbell Model Museum one day . I know it sounds kinda crazy but I am happy he likes my models so much. He did live in Va. and now he lives in Florida and now there are over 50 of my models in Florida. Thanks for the offer to let me work in your fully equipped shop, it is very tempting , lol
I worked on this for 6 months , 7 days a week.

Don't forget to shoot it with a paintball gun, roll it in TP, and use several spray cans of graffiti to finish it off.

Waldon, you sir, have far too much time on your hands... the creative talent, craftsmanship and ingenuity never ceases to amaze me on this site.
This is so unbelievable. I wish my father-in-law was still around to see this...he was a hard man to impress(I know) but this would have made him smile and think! He was an aircraft engineer by profession and later got into model trains.

Truly remarkable and inspiring.

Having worked at CN Rail for 36 yrs as a conductor I concur that you have the cleanest Locomotive I've ever seen great work.
