My 203 dropped a sleeve into the pan. Rebuild Kit?

I have my tractor running again. It was Feburary 16 when the engine crashed. 4 months of getting it back up and going again.
I have about an hour of run time on the engine. I'm ready to do an oil change. I'm going to run full synthetic.
Would synthetic be a mistake on an older diesel?
By older diesel I mean older model engine. It's a full rebuild.

That ticking sound is exhaust leak at the manafold where the muffler sits on and at another joint up above. Headed to town to het some clamps. Cant have that!
