Michael,
Thanks, the drive way is about a hundred yards long, but by the garage there is a big slab of concrete I will have to clear. Yes there is alot of snow here/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. Cliff

Hey Cliff, love your house! We'll be building something very similar next year (fingers still crossed). We want our porch floor elevated like yours is. How did you handle the foundation? Does it go all the way to the rim joist or is there a knee wall? Our architect is trying to talk us into a knee wall so there is not as much exposed foundation on the sides of the house. I'd love to brick it, but too many $$$ Right now we've got it designed with concrete all the way up to the rim and some fast growing shrubs to cover. Any recommendations?

Nice tractor too /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

This is for Robs, I think this is what your talking about, the bricks hold it up. Cliff

Thanks for the photo Cliff, that's exactly what we want to do. My question though is, what does your foundation look like either behind the porch, or along a wall of the house where there is no porch. On ours, we'll have a couple of feet of poured concrete foundation showing between the finished grade level and where the first course of siding starts. Most houses around here are built so the foundation is just 6 inches or so above grade, but then the porch is barely above grade as well. Gotta have that old-time look /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Thanks. That's pretty much what I envision ours looking like. Got a step closer today when the wife and I staked out the whole house. Sure could use a pile of money right now /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
