Snow My answer to the FEL snow plow debate

Fisher plows are made here in Maine and since all the head gear came with the used plow, I decided to keep the Fisher look. It's just a fun thing. The lift cylinder is just for looks.

Good enough reason for me.

I think that has to be one of the best installs I have seen on here yet.

A certain someone will be disappointed if I don't recommend a crossover relief.

Interesting setup...do you plan on useing skids, shoes so the plow doesn't dig in?

I have the shoes but hadn't put them on when I shot the photos. Without them, at the beginning of the winter, it wouldn't be pretty.:)

I noticed you also had to remove your timing 'tube'.

Any problem keeping them timed during disconnect and reconnect ?

Not at all, I just get it close and manually move one until the other shoe matches.

I am surprised that this question hasen't been asked yet, maybe I am the 1st to notice it.
How come you have no cutting edge attached ?

That is a nice clean set up. At times I wish that I had built mine a little different. More like yours with a portion of the plow frame behind the loader arms, instead of everything out in front of the arms.

Hey Mark,
I chuckled when I read your post and here is why. I just put the edge back on last Saturday before the big storm hit. One reason that it was not on was that the edge that came with the plow was worn clean back and into the kick bar. I didn't realize until I got looking at it that I could just flip it over and bolt her up. Thanks for the kind words.

I bought a used J D 7" angle blade I had the dealer install , the big pain is the bracket If you drop the arms too low the backing plate rips into the lawn .I like your design:)

Boy will this rig move some snow. I have cut my snow removal time to about 30% of what it was with my blower.

I bad, I should have said that I am using the rear remote to angle the plow. I still have full control over the FEL height and angle.

Nice setup! .... I tried the front-blade approach too, but didn't like the way it pushed the front of my tractor around so I decided to sell it last year. I ended up with a blower (for deep stuff) and HD rear blade with 3-way hyd adjustments for < 12".

Anyway, just before I sold by loader-mounted blade, I stumbled on something that made it a lot easier to use ... almost made me want to keep it. I swapped my hydraulic hoses so I could control the plow angle with the joystick control. You almost never need to change the dump angle so you might as well use the joystick for the plow angle.

Try it .... it really helped my setup.
