I don't know what I was thinking. He DID say it ran OVER about $3,000. Maybe I need a reading lesson, or should have gone on to bed earlier. I thought maybe he left off a zero.

Good Evenin Bird,
:D If I could have built it for that, it would be much, much bigger !!! ;):):D

Thanks for the compliments guys, now to save for the electrical and insulation.....:)

Hey Scotty, maybe you need to start a side mail-order business selling maple syrup to us southerners who can't get the good stuff.;)

The shop looks great. It sure blends in well and will keep your equipment out of the weather even though it doesn't have heat/elec/insulation yet.

The project did run over about $3000, but I guess thats life, and I am very happy with the way it came out, so I will try and not complain too much....

It's funny how that happens. A few bucks here, a few bucks here and all of a sudden you're a couple of grand over.

Scotty, I've been suffering from near heat stroke with our hot weather here for the last month. By 2 PM everyday, I come inside and stay. My grandson came for a couple of days and we took down a big tree by my driveway (sorry, no pictures:eek:). We also started drilling some holes for an additional pole barn shed on the side of my container. The other side has a very full leanto and I plan to use the new side as a lumber crib.

Yesterday, it didn't get out of the 80s here and it was wonderful. All next week it should be in the 90s and I'll get some seat time on the tractor to start preparing my building site. I'm only going to get a metal pole barn structure built that will probably be under $20k. I'll prepare the site and then hire the company to do all the rest. I may have to wait until next spring, but maybe I can get it done before the end of the year. We'll see. . .

Jim, we'll be expecting the normal, well versed and informative thread on this project!:D:thumbsup:

Good Mornin Guys,
Ive finally got some time to devote to this project, so we are trying to tackle the electrical rough in, boxes, runnin the wire and placing lights and switches etc...

The last few days we mounted the 100 amp sub panel and began running wires. I bought 500 ft of 12/2 and 500 ft of 14/2. Thought that would cover my outlet and lighting requirements for this size building.

I ran 12/2 for my 120 v shop outlets, and the same in the garage section on its own circuit.

For the shop lighting, I ran the 12/2 to 6 ceiling mounted boxes, which will power 12 flourescent fixtures. In the garage I will do the same but wont use that many lights.

As you walk in the shop door, there will be a 3 gang switch box, one for shop lighting, one for the exterior lights, and another for the garage section.

I also got the measurement from the power coming to the house, from there to the sub panel in the barn... Im not sure I want to pay for that length of wire ! :(;)

My neighbor was also nice enough to weld some hooks on my new bucket, and there is a bonus shot of Kathleens perennial garden just getting started. :)
