I don't see anything cheap about that shed. Looks good to me.

The solar panel, batteries and an inverter are an idea. I have a small workshop that is too far away from the house to justify the expense of running power to it. I have two deep cycle batteries hooked to a 3k watt inverter that powers everything in the shop, including a drill press. Now, it won't do it for very long, but long enough to handle small repairs or projects. I don't have the solar panels yet, but I will soon.

I have nothing against people who have the money to do really fancy barns and stuff, but I like seeing projects that people do on a budget and without fancy tools. This is a nice project and I wish it were on my property! There's no reason NOT to post projects like this and I hope more people do. I need something similar but I am so far behind on everything else I'm afraid it's out of the question this year.

Anyway, great job and +1 for posting the pics.

I don't see anything cheap about it. Looks very good and square.

If you wanted to side it, you could put some translucent panels in the roof to give light inside during the day. Oh, I should have looked at all the pictures first. You already did.

Anything you build with your own brain and hands beats the world's fanciest barn. Looks great to me. I looked into solar power for my little barn, it's too cold here in the winter for the batteries unless they're in some heated structure. Their storage capacity drops off to very little at winter temps. I'm guessing where you are they'd work fine.

would be proud to have that on my back lot.

What is the overall size plus the side shed?

Agreed.

I love seeing all the new barns and shops going up, but the ones like that require some grunt and creativity are the ones where I really benefit the most from reading.

If I remember correctly, it is about 30' from pole to pole deep plus overhang, and about 24' wide, plus the side addition I added later, that is another 12'. So roughly about 36' x 36' of roof.

Oh the hammock does get used occasionally. Solar would be nice, but I have a little Honda 2000 W if I need it (and I just added a Miller Bobcat on a trailer) for tractor repairs. I am not there much at night, as this is a 300 acre hunting tract about 30 minutes from my home. Just a place to play. I park my Kubota M 6800 and my 25' gooseneck here.
