Do I understand that Bobcat dealers are now offering full service for Kioti? Otherwise, I'd better hope nothing else big breaks...

I don't know about all Bobcat dealers but Bobcat of Boston does, at least in their North Reading location which is the only one I have been to. They have half a dozen orange Kioti's in their lot mixed in with the skidsteers and toolcats.

For reference, my dealer (now former Kioti dealer) is Harvard Power Equipment in Harvard, MA
Man.. I just called them 2 weeks ago about bringing my tractor up for serrvice and nothing was said. Due to moving to a new house I've been delayed bringing it up. This sucks, I really liked the guys at Harvard. Granted, I moved closer to Orchard, I was still going to use Harvard. Might have to rethink it now.

I know the owner was having problems when He stopped selling Gehl, but He said the Kioti sales had been strong and was going to concentrate more on Kioti. Just really sucks to see them go.

If Bobcat of Boston Shrewsbury, MA store is stocking orange kiotis, that's huge for me as it's right up the street compared to Harvard.

I'll call 'em tomorrow or next week to see what's up.

Maybe I'll pick up an aerator from them to do some business since I didn't buy my tractor from them.
Drove by Bobcat of Worcester in Shrewsbury this morning. (owned by the Bobcat of Boston). To my pleasure I saw a new CK20 sitting on the lot. Didn't have time to stop so I called on my cell. They said they are selling and servicing Kioti like the Boston stores, but they have no parts stocked yet. He said they are waiting for them to come in and train them on how the Kioti system works first. (As always.. Boston first then Worcester)
Left it with I'd call back in a few weeks to see if they are ready to do service, seeing my ignition switch needs to be replaced. I'm happy I can drive 10 minute for parts and service.

That's nice to know. I imagine all three of the Bobcat of Boston locations will be selling and servicing orange tractors. Something tells me there will not be much of a learning curve for the mechanics. I've already dealt with the parts guys in the North Reading location and they are very pleasant, helpful and professional. They gave me a Kioti hat just for coming in to look for some hydraulic fittings.

I wonder what Bobcat of Boston will do about the white Kioti's? Seems a bit odd to stock two colors of the exact same tractor but odder things have happened. I'd imagine that Bobcat of Boston would not want to forgo the very hot DK series just to stay with the Bobcat name.

Sweet! I'll be over there tomorrow as I'll be up in Grafton in the morning.
I need to stock up on blades and belts as my fine Italian mowerdeck (DMM-60) isn't available anymore... I love the way that thing cuts and it's a shame Kioti doesn't seem to want to cater to the MMM type guys (homeowners who like big bad tractors) I'm thinking about getting the Kioti aerator for the 3 point since it's cheap compared to others and good enough for home owner type use. That way I can do some business with them even though I didn't buy my tractor there.

Maybe I can get me one a 'dem hats too...

Don't forget that for some Kioti parts that "normal" dealers may not stock you can always get in touch with Wallace or DePratt or a few other large internet savvy dealers. I've come to think of Kioti after sale support as something that doesn't necessary focus on a single dealer. Some advice/stuff you get from TBN, some from the local dealer and some by phone or PM from these TBN active dealers. I haven't had a dealer's wrench on either of my tractors yet but I've certainly gotten a lot of guidance/advice to help me solve the little problems that pop up.

The internet savvy dealers are essential for a guy like me. Yes -- I will probably end up utilizing Rick Wallace or DePratt at some point as it's the same reason I do all my Christmas shopping online and never enter a single store.

I went by Bobcat in Shrewsbury -- kind of disappointing. It doesn't seem to be open on saturdays, they're in an industrial area if they added razor wire and graffiti on the ancient building it would fit in well in New York City (big fence around it that's really beat up) or it could be confused for a prison if there wasn't any equipment parked outside. I realize looks mean nothing when the service and support are top notch, but a big dealer w/ a nice showroom and large service area is what they need.

Honestly Harvard power was IMHO a much nicer setup, and I remember being there and seeing 3 or 4 CK20's, 3 or 4 25/30's, some w/ TLB, others with deck setups. A few DK series machines, and a monster tractor or two -- at least as many or more orange blazing out front than Toreku Kubota before Toreku moved to their bigger location -- something like at least 20 tractors. I'd like to see the same at Bobcat of shrewsbury -- I guess they can cheat a bit on the whole kioti inventory requirements because they have 3 stores and get to add up inventory of all 3.

I will still give them a chance, but not having saturday hours is no way to sell machines to guys that are not landscapers and such. If you guys don't think so, then I would like to hear how many home owner, enthusiast, private sales Rick Wallace might lose if he was not open on saturday and sunday. Rick mentioned a LOT of Kioti sales are on first time tractor buyers -- not the guys who have owned John Deere for 20 years and are fixed on brand loyalty even though there tends to be a big price gap due to the ludicrously expensive green paint john deere uses. I guarantee you most first time tractor buyers are guys who shop on the weekends.

Judging by the requirements for a salesman position Bobcat has open at their south store (on the website), they are catering to landscapers and industrial stuff, not private owners.

Anyway -- I sound like a whiner and I'm not trying to be that way. If I start to work w/ a new dealer, I want it to be one that cares about private owners, not just the landscaper thats does tons of business on a monthly basis making me have to get in line for 4+ weeks to get some kind of service done. I want to drop my machine off for service or pick up parts on saturday (or even sunday), not during the week when I need to work too.

The 4+ weeks thing actually happened to me w/ a JD dealer across the street from my work -- my brother bought a log splitter from them that needed a new hydraulic valve and a line (also a walk behind blower -- about $3000 worth of business). It sat -- no lie -- for 3 months from November through January. Called them 3 times (once per month) and stopped by twice and their exuse was "we've got a lot of snowblowers to fix" and they only had one guy doing the work... They never returned calls -- so in february I came by w/ my tow vehicle and took the splitter out of there. Brought it to a local wheel horse dealer who I bought my 315 garden tractor from back in 2001 and he had it fixed in a couple of days and even called me when it was done...

I'm not sure if I will ever be able to visit Bobcat unless I'm on vacation or if they pick up saturday hours. I'll have a few days off between Christmas and New Years ... So I guess I'll go visit them one of the weekdays between Christmas and New Years and if I need some work done I'll schedule for either one of my work holidays that Bobcat happens to be open or when I'm on vacation and actually at home...

I agree that Saturday hours are important for most CUT owners. Harvard Power was only open until noon however which was not especially convenient either. I don't know if the other Bobcat of Boston places are open on Saturday as I went on a weekday.

I doubt the Bobcat dealerships will ever rise to the standard of the best stand alone tractor dealerships. As you mention, their bread and butter is from working with landscapers and construction companies who are presumably able to make it M-F 9-5. As it is a 40 minute drive from my house to Harvard Power, I rarely actually went out there anyway and as my tractor is on an island I never used them for service. I actually find it quite convenient to use Rick Wallace as I can reach him more easily than I could get the guys at Harvard. I Rick on some parts for my first tractor and based on those experiences bought my second from them sight unseen. Rick or Amy or ?Mike are seemingly always in the shop and pretty easy to get on the phone. Once you have one of them on the phone you have a pretty good chance of getting the question answered on the first try and I've never had any difficulty ordering parts. Indeed, I usually end up calling for a part, having a conversation about what it is I'm trying to do, getting some advice and then having a part (not necessarily the one I thought I needed) shipped UPS almost immediately. No muss, no fuss, no driving, no parking, no hassle. What's not to love? Of course I'd love to live 10 minutes from their shop but they don't have any ocean nearby so I make do with internet and phone. I do my own routine service and minor repairs and even diagnostics with my cell phone while crawling around under the tractor testing things as instructed by Rick or one of his staff. It's worked fine so far. Having the Bobcat dealers fairly nearby means that if I ever do need to have the tractor worked on I have the option of getting to a shop that I can be pretty comfortable will know the basic issues and have talented wrenches on staff.

I'm sure the only Bobcat dealers that are going to service Kioti's are the ones that are actually set up as Kioti dealers.
