This is a roller coaster. I got home from my trip last night and he's in bad shape. My wife and kids said he's been fine the previous days, but yesterday he was different. Since I saw him a week and a half ago, he's visibly lost more weight, a lot more. He also had no appetite today and is kind of spacey, standing in one place and just staring off. We have a visit with the vet this morning (it was a scheduled follow up from last week's visit).

He's been on the prednisone and iron+ blood supplement and his bloodwork last week looked good, with his platelets just getting back into range. We thought things were looking up.

I don't think he's going to pull through this. He's so out of sorts, he doesn't even want to sit with me, which is really out of character. Poor little guy, I wish I knew how to help him.

Sorry to hear that, it sure can be challenging with him not being able to communicate what is wrong to you.

We had bad news at the vet. He's gone backwards with his bloodwork. His platelets were down and his white cells are up. We'll continue with the prednisone, but we've also added an antibiotic and something else. He's been moping all day, has almost no appetite and his breathing is labored with a hard exhale.

One of the largest stressors in my life is a sick pet. Getting a divorce was a cake walk compared to that.
