My family needs your thoughts and prayers.

My brother lost there oldest boy on Monday afternoon to a stupid accident. Brandon...6 years old.....was playing outside on a small dirt pile. I guess he thought he would dig a hole to China and as he knelt above the hole reaching to the bottom to scoop some dirt the soil colapsed around him. My sister-in-law could not get him out and by the time my brother got there it was to late. The paramedics gave them info on CPR over the phone and the paramedics arrived minutes later but nothing worked. I am in WV and they are all in WI. When I spoke to my Dad on the phone he said my brother was a basket case. I won't be sleeping tonight. My heart is with my brother and his wife. They need all the prayers and good thoughts everyone can muster. I dread arriving in WI and seeing them. What does one say?????? I am at a loss that such an innocent life can be taken so quickly. Since I will be jumping on the first plane I won't be able to read the responses anytime soon......so I thank you from deap inside my heart in advance.

Rob, my deepest, deepest sympathies to you and your family. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif In my experience, there's really nothing that you can say, just being there for your brother and his family will be remembered. Some people need someone to talk to, someone with whom they can 'vent', while other people need peace, quiet and space. Some people find relief in the 'busy-ness' of the activities around a funeral, while others prefer that someone else handle the details. There's no way of determining how your brother and his family will react until you are there.

Again, my deepest sympathies to you, your brother and his family. You all will be in my prayers this morning and in the days to come.

What a tragedy. That has to be the most heartbreaking event parents can have.

As a father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather you have my thoughts and concern.

It sounds like the boy was a character and probably has left many smiles over his antics. I hope they bring some solace.

Accidents are always tragic, accidents that happen to children are even more tragic. No words can express enough sympathy but I am sorry for your family.

I can't even begin to imagine what that would be like. It is truly tragic.

My brother and his family have been going through some difficult times the last few years, but certainly nothing like yours. It's been hard for us to know how to deal with their problems, especially when we're so far away.

Our thoughts and prayers to you and your brother's family. Having strong family members for support will be a huge blessing for them.

Words cannot begin to express the heartfelt sympathies I have for you and your family at this saddest of hours. While reading your post, I am looking across the room at our own 6 year old guy, and it gives me frightening chills to think of any tragedy like that befalling us. Try as we might to shield and protect our own flesh and blood, it can vanish in a blink of an eye.

We can only take some solace in the thoughts that this little boy is in now Heaven with his Creator, having "slipped the surly bonds of earth, and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings."
