My father's day gift.

My wife thinks I have a fetish for welders and tools. I disagree, what do you guys think? :laughing:

Shield Arc, unless all the welding equipment is simply an excuse to dress up in leather, I'd say it's not so much of a fetish, more like a severe addiction you have.

As a newcomer to electric welding, I was warned that melting metal with amps can be addictive. At first I thought I could control it, just a quick joint now and again. Then I moved on to getting my fix with occasional farm equipment repairs. Now I avidly read the TBN projects, searching for something I could build as an excuse to sniff the fumes again. I am still learning stick welding, yet I already feel the urge to scratch (start) with TIG. The family are not convinced when I claim "I haven't got the shakes, I'm only practising my weaving technique". Is there any hope of a cure, or will I also one day find my children having to feed my habit ?

Eric there are two ways to look at welding machines. One way, they save you money. The second way, is you make money with them.
In 1982 I bought this set up for $9,378.00. I worked for wages, and rented the welder for $650.00 a month. First job I came within 3-months of paying for the welder. Sold it in 1995 for $4,500.00.

Gary our youngest daughter, son-n-law, and 3-grandsons live right behind us. The oldest daughter, son-n-law, grandson, and youngest granddaughter live about 4-miles away. Funny we don't get to see them all that much, busy lives!

He who dies with the most welders wins ! I consolidated down to 6 units. Had 11 at one point. Addicting? Yes..
