I made an appointment for my steer to get butchered, the first time I ever grew my own meat and I cant wait to see how he is going to taste

we bought the steer last year 2 weeks old so we bottle fed him, and castrated him ( banded ) I was sooo worried about castrating him, but it was very easy.

anyway its a major mile stone for us, next time we will take 2 steers

If you have a good butcher he should give you lots of choices. Do you want lots of roasts or lots of hamburger? How thick do you want your steaks cut? Soupbones or more hamburger? How big is your family and how much do you want in individual packages, 2lbs. or 5lbs. or something else.
My favorite cuts from our beef is Delmonico steaks. I also really like the shor ribs. My wife cooks the short ribs in the crock pot with a little onion and they are delicious.
Good luck and happy eating.
