Hello to all TBN members,
My wife and I are retired. We own 5 acres, 1.5 is cleared. We're into truck farming a little and would like to expand.
I'm interested in getting 25-35 hp compact tractor for farming and land clearing. I'm interested in a Chinese crate tractor, the main reason is price. I've worked on everything I owned, cars, trucks, tractors and computers. Working on a Chinese tractor would probably help keep me out of trouble.
Before becoming a member of TBN, I looked at a lot of TBN threads through google. I'm very interested contacting Chip at artrac. I live in the UP of Michigan, transportation will probably be a problem. Implements and attachments would be a finish mower, snowblower, tiller, FEL, and BH.
With more info I will be able to make good decision on a tractor, any help will be appreciated.
Bye for now,
Rick

:welcome:Just my opinion: You stated that you wanted a Chinese brand tractor because of the price. I have a neighbor that used to think the same way. He is a handy backyard mechanic also. Not only did he get tired of constant tinkering with the machine, Chinese make, but after breaking down in the field several times and having to walk back home, he decided that ENOUGH was ENOUGH. I choose not to make recommendations in regard to tractor manufacturers, but here are a few suggestions. Be advised this is my opinion. I would suggest having a minimum PTO HP of 35-40. You will also discover that a FEL will come in handy more times than you can imagine. The same goes for 4WD. Many manufacturers offer 0% financing at various times during the year. Another option is to search around for a well maintained USED tractor equipped with the options that you need. As the old saying goes "PAY NOW or PAY LATER". But, in the end, it is your decision. After much research, it will be up to you and you along, to decide. You will be the ONE that will be utilizing the SEAT TIME and not any of us. Happy Tractoring and the best of luck in your purchase and your retirement years. Happy Tractoring.:tractor::tractor::welcome:

Hi Rick,
I was where you are a few years ago about a tractor, was gonna buy used to get the most bang for the buck. I also am remote, my tractor took a 2500 mile drive, 300 mile ferry ride, 130 mile boat ride and a 15 mile skiff ride to get here so I wanted something that would be reliable and I wouldnt always be waiting for parts for! I went with new because of that and am glad I did!
