Tractor
John Deere 2440
I'm 18 and looking to buy my first tractor to call my own. I've had my eye on a John Deere B for a while now. Good choice? suggestions?

What do you need it for? The use should determine the tractor

I agree. Need to decide what you are going to do with it and then get the tractor that fits your needs.

I agree also. In any case, one with a fel for sure.

Admire your drive at your age to own a tractor, but a Camaro goes farther with the girls at that age..:D (most of the time) but in retrospect a tractor sometimes is more reliable..

I basically just want it to have:) But i would also use it to pull pumpkin wagons around the field and do some plowing for fun.

Is it easy finding parts for them?

I would call your Deere dealer and see if they can give you a line on parts availability, There is also several parts dealers nationwide that may have what you may need.

I've seen allot of decent deals on Craigslist, paper and on the side of the road on various branded tractors, unless your dead set on buying Green, I would keep my options open also.

A John Deere B would be the perfect first tractor for anyone.

If you have tasks that it won't handle, keep the B and get another tractor.:D

Classic tractor from yesteryear.

Ford 8N ? Easy to get parts, cheap to buy, and one of the best looking tractors ever built IMO.

There were quite a few B's built and parts are readily available. You see alot of B's at the antique tractor shows in my area. I have a 1947 B in the shed but it is in dire need to be restored. Cannot go wrong with the 2 cylinder John Deeres, if you are sum what mechanically incline you can work on the engines easily. They were made to be repair by the farmers themselves.:D
