My fuel station build (55 gallon drum with portable RD 8 Fill Rite pump)

Big believer in gravity myself....so I built this shed (which replaced an earlier one of about 20 years), and mounted a 300gal gas, and 250 gal diesel tank in the 'loft', then plumbed them down with hose/filter for each.

I get the tanks filled by local oil distributor as needed.

Ground level section left is for storing jugs of oil/hydraulic fluids/etc, right is just extra storage. Cross beam has 6' clearance under it so I don't bump MY head. If a tall guy gets this place after me, he may have to learn to duck. :D

I like it... I might have to look into minimum delivery amount/charge and do something similar. Sure would be nice to rid myself of yellow and red 5 gallon cans and the trip to the station.

My 100 gallon fuel tank mounted on a DIY trailer made out of a mobile home axle,,,

Much nicer than 5 gallon cans.

The fill cap maintains about 5 psi in,, or out,
so it does not collect moisture from temperature changes.

Someday I may move up to a steel tank like these. I can re use the pump and fittings. But for now this is more fuel than I need.

Here's my situation: Am almost 84 years old.......5'3" tall.....need only 5 gallon diesel jugs x 4....tired of lifting them to a stand for a simple siphon method. And I like to keep about 30 gallons of gasoline (metal Jerry jugs) for a short term generator usage. This gasoline has to be "recycled" into my truck at the end of each winter season. Lifting these Jerry jugs to transfer into the truck is getting tiresome.

So, here's my solution: A pump that is rated for gas and diesel....a pump that is not "permanently" attached.....Jerry jugs and diesel jugs don't have to be "lifted" for transfer.

Behold..............001.JPG002.JPG001.JPG004.JPG005.JPG003.JPG

P.S. If there is any truth to the difference between #1 diesel & #2 diesel, then I can keep fresh diesel according to the season, by buying it in smaller quantities. In my lifetime the temp can range from-26 deg F to +115 deg F. And I don't need a 100 gallons at a time.
Cheers,
Mike
