Yep. Gotta do that, too. The auger buggered up the insulation on about 6" of both wires, so I've got to get some to splice in.

I agree with the soldering suggestions above in addition to heatshrinking, siliconizing and enclosing in a box.

I think Rosin Core solder is for electrical repairs and Acid Core solder is for plumbing work. You may have to splice a short piece of wire in if you don't have enough slack to put the ends back together.

Lessons learned I guess. BTW are you going to get an "As Built" on the irrigation lines etc. It would be nice to have the "as Built" plan because it won't take that long and you probably won't reember where eveverythng comes in and out.

Now I know you have these big boy muscles so you probably don't have to do this, but when I have to dig a big hole I use a pick. I beak up the dirt with the pick and then sholvel it out. Haven't done that in a long time but that is how I do it with my little girly muscles.

Havne't written much becasue my husband and I have been doing the spring pruning, OMG what a project. But good news, (little bell rings "ta-ting") we got it done. My husband worked so hard he went down another pants size.

How are the kids enjoying their new home? Does it feel like home yet or still kind of "strange"?

Good to hear from you again. Sorry to ruin your impression of me, but my "big boy muscles" left me long ago. But, I despise using a pick. I'll stick to the shovel.

A print-out of the irrigation plan would be great. I'm not sure the outfit that did the installation is that sophisticated. I will call them tomorrow and check on that.

I think the kids like the new place. It still does not feel like "home" to me yet. "Strange" is a good word to use. I still haven't figured out which light switch turns on which light. And it seems like whatever switch I need is on the opposite side of the room. But, I'll get used to it.

One thing that has spoiled me is the big shower we have now. I had some yard work to do at the old place yesterday and had to go directly to a school function with my son. So, I just took some personal care items with me along with some clean clothes. When I got in the shower at the old place, it felt like I was in a phone booth. Never realized it was so small. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It seems like there is always at least one big "surprize" right after you move into a new house. For us it was water literally shooting up out of the floor drain in the basement! It was pouring rain at the time (had been for a couple of days). I was sure that the new septic system had filled with rain water some how and was backing up. Nope - turned out that someone had crushed the drain pipe when they poured the basement floor. Not easy to explain to the wife why the nice man is taking a jackhammer into the basement of her new house.

It gets better. Hang in there.
