how come after 4 months of using my king kutter 5' hog the brackets c/t the side pins are bent real bad.both the side pins angle back now and i can barley get the hitch on.also the entire deck is twisted???i have used this very little but left it on the tractor in the raised position.should i have a chain as a top link??should i take it off after using it every time??this thing seems very lightly built.not happy.bws

BWS, I doubt gravity alone is your culprit. It should not bother any cutter to let it hang from it's mounts for long periods of time. Much more likely is hitting stuff, running into stuff etc. Is your land bumpy? What kind of cutting have you been doing? Any chance you can post some pictures of the cutter /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That sure doesn't sound right. Most of the feedback I've seen here on KK brush cutters was very favorable. Give your dealer a chance to see it the way you have it hooked up and see what they can tell you. I doubt it's just from hanging there.

Could someone have used it, not told you, and backed into something with it, and then put it back? If not, then let the dealer see it and work out a swap.

Sounds like it got bounced good a few times. There's a lot of weight back there and if it gets bounced hard it could bend the pins. I would think it would bend the frame but anything is possible.

I am sorry that happened. I am not convinced that the KK is that strong.

I don't know if it is the way your cutter is hooked up or what you have been mowing ?
I've had my 6' King Kutter brush mower for 6 months now (much heavier built than my previous John Deere 513 cutter) and I can't imagine what I would have to get into to cause that kind of damage !

I have been happy with my 5' KK, and not had this type of problem. Do you have the U-bracket or another way such that there can be some give in the top 3pt? Is it possible to get into a deep rut or go up a steep enough hill to cause this kind of twisting with no give in the top link?

Good point John! If you don't have some give in your upper mount you've got a 15 foot long rigid member that is going to give somewhere in dips and valleys /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm just going to let that one pass right on by /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
