Thought I'd share this with you all. I'm sure you've seen these here and there, but we just got this for my little girl. Figured I'd start her off right. She picked this over a Barbie Jeep:

She had such a blast, she wanted me to get in my tractor and follow her around. It even has a working FEL:

However, being very safety conscious, she was concerned about having enough ballast for the FEL load, so...

:D It makes a heart warm. Not sure what we'll get munchkin #2 when he's old enough.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. It's easy to see what I'm thankful for.

She shouldn't be operating that with the ROPS folded down!! Cute kids, you are blessed indeed.

Yeah, when I was putting it together my wife asked if it had a ROPS. I pointed to it and said that it was right there. She said it was shorter than our little girl.

So cool. :) My grandparents were farmers, got me and my brother red Farmall pedal tractors back in the '60's. We just loved them, matched Grandpa's 'H'. Moved to our hobby farm 3 years ago, my mother dragged mine out for my kids. Of course, it's a collector's item now, worth a whole 160.00  so my kids ride it.

Nice looking family.

Thanks, my papaw had a Farmall too, and the old red pedal version. Loved it. Not sure where that thing is.

Have you estimated MILEAGE yet?

Ha! :) That puppy is electric, so I guess it'd be about 2 miles/lb coal to make the electricity.

It's a grandma's job to say he's too young, it's a grandpa's job to get him in the seat as soon as he can sit up.

My wife got mad at me for stepping away long enough to take that picture, but I figured he'd just bounce if he fell off with all that clothing on. :D He's 8 months old. Daughter is 3, but she has a cousin who had one when he was 2 years old and he got quite good a driving that thing well before he turned 3. That's really cool of you to do that for them. My granny, who's farm I bought, actually gave us the money for that. It helps 'cause young parents can't always afford such nice things. We were very appreciative.

:) Yeah, she's good about that. Of course she's also pretty good about redispersing that debris, and now she has the tools to do both.

I got my boy the gator with a power lift box, for his 2 year birthday. He has had it a little over a year now and does fine driving it. It is still locked in low gear so he is easier to catch. I'm glad you got a Deere for your daughter, you must love her alot. JC

Yeah, we thought about that too. Our grandparents played with dirt for fun as that's all they had at the turn of the century, our parents kicked a can down the road for entertainment, we had pedal toys 30 years ago, now my 3 year old has a powered tractor with a FEL because my granny worked so hard her whole life, she can afford to get it. The trick is to be able to give your kids nice stuff like this AND teach them to appreciate it.

Sometimes I think she'd be better off without things like this, but on the other hand the point of all that hard work is so that your kids can have it better than you did, right? (sorry to get all philosophical on you) I have seen a model with a back hoe on it, so I guess that could be an upgrade, 'recon in a few years they'll have cab tractors with dvd players in them. :)

You joke, but my daughter is meticulous with her stuff. We took her to the beach and she spent the whole time rinsing the sand off her sand toys. Tore her up that there was sand everywhere. That's her moma's influence. At one point she did get a spec of dirt on the seat and she had to stop, get off the tractor, and brush off the seat. I'm working on her though.

Yeah those Gators were slick. I saw those when we got this one. It's amazing the stuff they have out these days.

The following is a picture of myself and two grandkids. The model T has a briggs engine. The JD is pedal power, but they have a cart that he drives. :)

Thanks Rob, I'm just thankful to have a great place like this to share crazy tractor stuff with other crazy tractor people. :)

TrippleT, that Model T is way cool! I also didn't know they made a pedal version of that John Deer. That looks almost identical.

Thank for checking out this thread, but I just realized that I forgot the cutest part of the whole deal. I guess I just got so excited to see her get to drive it that I forgot about part of the journey getting there.

For those of you with kids, you know what happens when you get something that is "some assembly required." :) At least in my household, my little girl wants to help me do whatever I'm doing, whether it's replacing the brakes on my truck, or digging the wild onions out of the yard. She's right there with me. She loves "daddy time." And with that kind of help you can sometimes squeeze a 45 min job into a 3 hour time slot ;) but it's well worth it. :)

This was no different. She helped me sort all the parts, learned a few new tool names, and did whatever she could to "help." I think most of the time she was walking around with a phillips head screw driver asking if there were any screws she could "work on." So we were almost finished putting the whole thing together when she got this puzzled look on her face. She started looking around the garage, and then asked "where's the dirt?"

I thought she was talking about the mess I'd left on the driveway from the last set of tires I hauled in to get rid of the night before - they were half burried and wet and full of mud, so I sloshed mud all over the driveway taking them out of the bed of my truck. She'd let me know it as soon as I got home from work, so I had to power wash the driveway before we could put her tractor together (like I said, she's meticulous.)

But that wasn't the dirt she was talking about. She said, "No, daddy, the dirt for my tractor!" Then she walked over to the box, turned it around, and pointed:

She thought the dirt in the picture was included and was looking forward to moving it all around with her new tractor/FEL/cart! :D

She was so sad when I told her the dirt didn't come with it, I had half a mind to take her to the store and tell the store manager to give us the dirt or my little girl would get him in trouble for false advertising. The box didn't say "dirt not included." :) hee hee

You have to love the mind of a 3 year old! Precious. I assured her that we had plenty of dirt on the farm and she seemed OK with that.

OK, This may be my favorite thread of all time. My daughter has a similar tractor. Minus the loader. The only one available with a loader when we bought Hannah's was the pedal one that was mentioned/pictured earlier. Unfortunately, I think the pedal switch is broken, and I have not had the chance to try and dismantle it to fix it. You can push the pedal and nothing happens. Not a sounds more than the click of the button. Battery is freshly charged of course. She is about to turn five so she is getting big for it, but she loves that thing. Hauls hay and shaving for the horses in the trailer and all. I need to bring my camera in too. Last weekend we had our first dusting of snow for the year. 07:00 Saturday she was in our bedroom hollering for us to get her some jeans because she needed to go outside and play. We put her off until about ten when it warmed up some. I got some good pics of her making snow easter bunnies. No snowMEN. Easter Bunnies. Don't ask me, ask her.... She was very specific about what we were seeing. I found this thread at a good time I guess. Been sitting here at my desk, in a little bit of a bad mood waiting for the final straw. I needed the smile to put things back in perspective. I am going to have a great rest of the day now.:)

Jeremy,
Howdy, and thanks for your kind words about this thread. I can see how your little one would run the wheels off of her tractor. Mine loves that thing. That's usually what she's asking to do as soon as she gets the chance.

Love the story about her "hollering" for some jeans so she can get to play, and the snow - easter bunnies. I have to agree with her on that one, my little girl's going to be making snow women! Isn't it great what goes through the mind of a child. :)

We started putting up the Christmas tree tonight. My little girl was following me every step of the way "helping" again. Needless to say we didn't get very far. ;) But I loved every minute of it. She was following me around the tree stringing the lights, and suddenly she hollered, "Hey, I need my tractor so I can drive around behind you every where you go!" We had a little talk about inside toys and outside toys and mommy's dirt/germ phobia thing.

I keep pictures like those of her on my computer at work for days like that - hang in there.

Well, you guys would have been proud of my daughter yesterday.... It's 40 outside with a 30 mph north wind... COLD wind... I jacked my wife's Ipod and headed out to split wood with my buddies big 2290 and 3pt splitter. I am parked out there splittin away and see Hannah roaming the yard, bundled up like an Eskimo chasing cats and the like... all while carrying a giant stuffed giraffe under her arm. According to her, mommy said it could come outside to play. Finally she wanders around the fence line and across the lot to where I am splitting. I have been watching her close so that she would not sneak up on me and get conked by a log I was carrying. I can see her lips moving so I squat down to hear here and pull the earphone out. "I wanna ride in the tractor daddy..." She had ridden in it with me when we brought it to the house last weekend. She laid down in the back window of the cab and almost fell asleep making the 10 or so mile drive. I was surprised I did not get a worse response when I told her no... off with the giraffe she went... I was relieved she did not want to "help" me split. THAT would not have happened.... wife was paranoid enough of me out there by myself, much less the kid. Shortly after that I shut it all down and changed the oil in the 2 cars. Much safer project for a possible 4 y/o volunteer. Ah the small joys of life.

I forgot about Saturday... we drove up to a ranch rodeo competition at the arena that my wife trains and gives lessons at... picked Hannah up from my sister where she spent the night with her cousins thinkin she would be HAPPY to go see the horses and cows and stuff... oh no... we throw a fit because we don't get to RIDE... we don't want to go if we don't get to ride our horse.. just like her mother, I swear! ;)
