great video!

I once pulled a 3/4 ton pick-up out of the mud with my Ford 1210.
I had a lnong enough strap that the tractor was on gravel 1st gear Low Range.

The pick-up owner was swearing it wouldn't work.

His eyes were as big as silver dollars when the truck started moving.

Very nice video. I was glad to hear you mention in your video comments about a tow strap. Get a couple clevis's and or D rings, too. They'll help with easy hook up and prevent damage to the strap from tying knots in it, etc...

I have a full sized van with wide tires and it gets stuck on similarly slight slopes next to our driveway. I have my daughter pull me out with our little tractor, too. It doesn't take much to help the big vehicle along.

Thanks for the post. I also like your signature. We all are still learning. :)

The big glaring thing I took out of that video is something only a builder would observe:

1. You need to put a rain leader on the end of your downspout so you that area wont become so soggy from rain water collecting next to your garage. Just dig a trench beyond your split rail fence and bury a piece of schedule 40 4" PVC in the trench from the bottom of the downspout until it runs out to daylight.

2. Get some 3/4 stone or crusher run out in front of your garage door, too.

That way you'll be a lot less likely to have to make another video. :D

Cool video and thanks for taking the time to post.

I also noticed you use the right leg over the steering wheel dismount method!!

Dennis, I'm only 1.5 minutes into the video & feel the need to stop it & give some advice. Your truck has an auto trans. One thing that about driving ANYTHING with an auto trans that's not mentioned nearly enough, if ever: If you find yourself in ANY slippery conditions with a vehicle with an auto trans, shift the trans into NEUTRAL when you go for the brake pedal!!!!! This will stop the rear wheels from pushing the locked front wheels. The same applies for front wheel drive! It's a tip I picked up many, MANY, years ago & has served me well. Second, it seems there's something contaminating the rear brake pads. Shouldn't be gear oil as a dually has what's called a "floating rear" so that only leaves brake fluid leaking from a wheel cylinder, or water getting in due to a shield missing on the backing plates, or the automatic adjusters aren't working properly. In any event, you should pull both rear brake drums, repack the wheel bearings, inspect (by pulling the outer seal away & looking for fluid) or replace the wheel cylinders. If the shoes are contaminated with brake fluid, replace them too! Lightly lube the adjuster between the shoes (screw the adjuster apart, clean & LIGHTLY lube them, they are left-hand thread on left side, right-hand thread on right side) & inspect EVERYTHING inside there.

Glad to see you got out with minimal collateral damage!

Ummm... Why is the red BRAKE light on the dash lit? :D LOL

I had a 2 wheel drive Ford F250 diesel. It would spin the tires in wet grass. It would spin the tires if there was frost on the ground. It would spin the tires on wet pavement. The problem was all the weight in the front, lots of torque and not so much weight over the drive wheels in the rear. So I had to be mindful of where and how I was driving it.
