Kind of an odd occurrance, but last night I was mowing and I was cutting in close (read: using the tractor body to push aside the lower branches) to a pne tree. Well the tree must have pulled the spring loaded rod that holds the deck to the lift arm. Half the deck fell to the ground. I noticed pretty quick something was up and I shut the deck down and moved to flat land.
When I figured it out I had to set the cut height to zero to get the arms down so I could reattach. I lifted the deck (nice and square now!) and figured "Great!". Cloimbed on the tractor, ... wound up the mower.... (did you guess yet?.....) ... Yep! Dropped the sucker down and reaked scortched earth for 12 feet!!!! WORM BURNER!!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Gee I hope that grass grows back... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I have had the left side pin work its way out a few times on my BX deck. It must be the angle, fit and vibration that causes it. I now check bith pins before each mowing.

Rogue,

You must have your anti-scalp wheels set really high /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
I hope you have more moisture than we do so the grass
comes back soon.

Good luck,
Michael

That has happened to me once. Couldn't figure out why though because I had mowed since the last time I had it off and I was on level ground when it just dropped.

However, the one I am most greatful for catching in time was when I put the deck on (maybe the second time doing so) and was mowing on level ground and noticed that something was wrong. The front bracket came off and I was pushing it along with the deck.

That could have been nasty. I guess my guardian angel like the BX also.

I check and re-check now.

Nothing but rain all year.
This is the Summer that wasn't.

My yard looks like a June yard. Not an Indiana August yard.

Sure glad I dumped all the 12-12-12 on this year.

Mow, Mow, Mow

But, other than skeeters, that's better than burn, burn burn.

This weekend we are going to build BAT houses and put them up this fall for next year. I will take the rain and deal with the bugs.

No complaints here.

My BX22 is now 76 hours old in 4 months. The rain has me mowing almost non-stop and I love using the BH to dredge my creek, even used it to turn my garden over. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I had my PTO shaft come loose about a month ago and the bearings fell out real fast. I am sure I had it installed correctly because I had mowed about 4 acres that day when this happened and I must check that it is locked into place 3 times before I power-up. I was near my fence in a corner and backed up about 3 feet, unknowingly there was a small hump under the middle of the deck which I believe pulled the shaft just enough to come loose. When I went forward the tractor violenlty shook and I shut her down. Checked the blades and belt then noticed the PTO shaft. At any rate the dealer didn't give me any grief, gave me a whole new PTO shaft. He agreed that if I had mowed 4 acres I should have noticed something earlier in my mowing. I am still not 100% sure what happened but now I try to not back-up without raising the deck a bit.

I sure wish you guys out East could send some much needed rain back our way.We are in the middle of some very dry areas.

Four surrounding Counties have just gone through the driest July in recorded history /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif We were lucky and had a little rain in the 1st part of July...but thats been it.So far this month, not a drop...I have been watering trees and grass for the past several days, and you can't see any signs of it at all...

BTW,Our BX has dropped the left side twice on my wife...she about had a "come apart" thinking she had really screwed something up /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

You can't wait for winter!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
After last winter, I'm contimplating suicide on November 1rst. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

This time last year, my lawn was DEAD. I had been sick of cutting in late june so I set the deck down a bit to 2.5". I mowed. It was abut the last rain we had all summer.
