My neighbors dogs

Sucks yours having to deal with with. If I was closer, I'd drive up there to put him down. I'm very familiar with pit bull attacks. They are ruthless and vicious. Sounds like this is one of the bad apples compared to all the good ones. I would've dropped this dog long ago. Kudos for your patience but I hope nobody in your family gets hurt.

I have had to shoot two neighbors dogs. One killed a chicken and that was strike one and then he was in the pasture chasing a calf and that was strike two. He did not get strike three. That neighbor got a deceased dog and a ticket to boot. Second one had came at me a few times, then one day he had me pinned in a tree while hunting would not leave. Tried to fire warning shots and would not leave, tried to come down the ladder and he got my leg. He was done, this was also inside the fenced area our cows roam. I too think you have more patience than me.

I think you owed your neighbor one warning. You keep calling them good neighbors but good neighbors don't let dogs, especially dangerous ones, run loose. I know dogs running deer on my land die. Dogs that attack me die quicker. I think you're being way too friendly and accommodating. I would shoot them, bury them and never tell a soul.

I've seen dogs chase deer until they drop. I bought my land for hunting. I spend lots of time and money improving the habitat for wildlife. If neighbors love their dogs, then they should keep them fenced, and off my land. If they allow dogs to run game, and be aggressive towards people, then I have no regrets pulling the trigger. You are too tender hearted.

I have two granddaughters, six and two years old. There is NO dog alive worth them being mauled, crippled, or killed. If your dog comes onto MY PROPERTY and shows any aggressiveness it will be killed. If you do not want it killed keep it on your property.

I cannot understand people saying they hate to kill a dog that is aggressive toward them or their children. Do they value the life of a DOG more than a child?

I would have shot the dog a long time ago. I would have given them one warning after that it is a moving target. If it attacked me, and I wasn't armed I would have shot it the next chance I got. My neighbor would have shot his own dog if it acted like that.

OP, contrary to what you say about your neighbors being good people; I respectfully disagree. No dog that is vicious should be allowed to roam. Regardless of leash law or not, the sheriff ought to be able to warn the owner of the consequences of not keeping their potentially deadly dog's actions/consequences in check.
There is a thread on TBN about a couple of dogs attacking a man on his property. He nearly lost his life. It is a horrific story, and a neighbor came to his rescue, fortunately, or he would have died. I strongly urge people to involve the authorities, at the very least to have a record of the dog's activity BEFORE something real bad could and too often does happen.

Vicious dogs don't willingly change their behavior, and certainly not without intervention on the owner's part, and that is difficult to do under the best of circumstances.

Ask yourself if one of the neighbor's actual kids was terrorizing the neighborhood, how long you'd put up with that behavior? I suspect not long.

Check out the thread I mentioned and see what can and did happen because of negligent dog owners who think it is not their responsibility to BE responsible for their dog's actions off their property. You may go to a larger caliber after reading it.

Never had to shoot a neighbors dogs BUT one had a pair of pit bulls a few years back that they let roam, everytime my wife or i would go to mailbox or walk around on the land these things would start in on barking and would charge us. I went to the neighbor and told him point blank, we get bit or harassed one more time on my property, im shooting the dogs and suing him. Never had another problem from him glad to say. We love dogs and have several but I am not tolerating being harassed on my own property by irresponsible neighbors.

I replaced 600' of fencing to keep the neighbors dogs out. I told them I would shoot the dogs if they came at me on my property. I yelled at the neighbor "I told you what was gonna happen" as I fired shots at their nuisance animals going towards my horses, and missed. There answer, let their dogs have more litters and keep the puppies. I can guaranty you that if your neighbors are like mine, the dogs have not had the required shots, care, etc.

If they come at me or my animals again, I will toss the still warm bodies over the fence if I can manage to hit them. No, they are NOT good neighbors. Good neighbors do not impose limits on you on your OWN property. That is what they are doing by letting them run free and having the audacity to ask you to not shoot them.
