John Deere 420 garden tractor
Finaly got around to taking some pics of my new 110sf. This was a 1 owner machine, traded in for a new hustler ZTR at my workplace. She languished all summer on the used lot out in the weather. She was spared being shipped off to the auction last month when we dump all the less than desirable trade ins. So, I sat down with the owner/boss and worked out a price for the tractor and the matching snowthower. I am still working on a price for the wheel weights he has that are for it. She runs like a watch, no smoke, throttle bushing in the carb is tight. I fixed the broken choke cable and gave the carb a good cleaning. I did a quick spray wax job and you can see she shined up halfway nice. I think a proper wax and buff to the fender deck will bring back the shine even more. The hood only has one small crack on one corner and the light panel is perfect, tail lights are pefect and correct. Mower deck does have one patch panel but is solid overall and mows great and is quiet. The snow blower has had very little use and is complete with all lifting linkages. The original front tires were bald, so I swapped over 4 matching Goodyear softrac's I had on hand. I kept the original Firestone rear turfs that have the snow tread style pattern in hopes I can find matching fronts eventualy. Took these pics right after cleaning her up after mulching up some early fall leaves. Cheers Mike

Getting the bald tires off the front did wonders on how the tractor looks. I asked the PO why there were bald and he said to keep his nice straight lines in his front yard, he turned around on his concrete drive way. So that constant hard 180' on the concrete ate the tread off those fronts. Amazingly they still hold air and are on my 1250 cub I am slowly rebuilding and repowering. I may sell the cub and get a 110 round fender JD as that one is high on my list of tractors. Wish Ertl would do another JD garden tractor in diecast, either a 110 flat fender or a 318 would be nice. Cheers Mike and Michele T

10hp, we had an 8hp one as well but it was taken to auction and wasnt as nice as this one, ie no lights and not as nice condition. She now has front JD hubcaps and rear two slot cast iron wheel weights. Mike

I took the mower deck off today, adjusted the brakes and found out she has the spring assist already on her! I had left the mower deck in the lowered position since we brought it home so I never noticed it had the spring helper. Make sense as the tractor has had the snowthrower since new. I need a pair of 2 slot JD cast weights for it, if anybody has a pair to sell, I will give $150 plus a resonable shipping charge for a good pair. Thanks Mike
