Kewl Thomas, if we ever get to travel back home to visit my birth mother, she lives in Stow, Maine and I am originaly from North Conway. I will look ya up if you still have it. A round fender JD is high on my list of wants. I need to sell this 1250 cub cadet repower project I have, has a briggs Vanguard 16hp Vtwin out of a 2000 series cub sitting in it. Needs finished up and a few missing parts replaced to run again. Old iron is the only way I roll! Mike
--- She's a keeper mike. Now you will have to clean out a space somewhere to make room for her. The question is, what will you do with the stuff that you clean out?
I noticed the ballast box on your 112. Was it a John Deere accessory?
I just picked up from a dealer in Central Wisconsin last Friday a 37A snowthrower with a rusty old ballast box. The box looks like yours, less the lid and paint.
Also, was green the original color and were any logo decals applied?
the ballast box came with the 37a snowthrower I picked up. It is a genuine JD accessory from 1979. The prior owner had brush-painted it yellow for reasons unknown to me. I have only seen one before this one and it was green. There should be a leaping deer decal on it.
the cover is made out of plywood.
i have the box 1/4 full of lead wheel weights for balancing tires.
Mike, look me up if you are ever around.
the 112 I have was originally a PATIO, but it was painted over green at some point in its life. The white was showing through everywhere and underneath, it wasnt green at all, just white.
the original hood and seat were red, but the hood was ruined and the seat was barely more than a rusted scab of metal. it came with a 39" mower and a 31 tiller. I sold the tiller and mule drive which gave me enough money to jack up the gas cap and refurb the rest.
it's not really what you would call a "correct" refurb. The yellow isnt April Yellow and the side decals are ones from ebay. The correct decals look like the industrial ones John Deere had at the time on their dozers and such. I am not a purist. I just like things to look decent and work like they ought to.
