Bill You just must have too much time on your hands

I personally know Bill, believe me this guy is a hard worker with not enough time to spare. He just likes to maintain his equipment, and keep it in excellent shape. He's the kind of guy anyone here would love to have for a neighbor.

OK, I found the problem. Thanks so much Dave and Brian for your comments, it was a big help.

Last night I removed the side engine panels and opened the hood. Then I removed the instrument panel, and unscrewed the tach cable at the top. Then I started the engine, and the cable did NOT turn. So I disconnected the cable at the bottom (side of engine block right under the exhaust manifold) and sure enough, the cable was broken. It had broke about 4 inches from the bottom.

I phoned my dealer today, and he is ordering the part. Hopefully, the new one will not break....

It is highly unusual that a cable would shotgun after only 10 hours. I would check to see if the tach will turn freely before the new cable installation.

I maintain and keep my equipment in excellent shape too, but I have yet to armor-all the tires. Maybe I should try it.
