My new 4010 is broke..... (250 hours)

Something (besides design) seems wrong here.

I've got a 4010 and run a 50 inch mechanical tiller. With the skids set as high as they go (meaning the tiller is taking as big a bite possible) I've turned 1/2 acre of former pasture into lawn. The ground was compacted in some areas and raised in others and was generally very nasty. I never had a problem as you describe.

I'll be the first to admit if my main use for the tractor was to turn hard packed clay into food plots I would not own the 4010, but running a 48 inch tiller in average soil should not be giving you the problems it has.

Good luck and let us know if you find some other cause.

Bob

Well I am back up and running, and less disgruntled...............
$0.88 for a new roll pin set at the dealer and they even had some in stock from the last time I bought them (Deere makes them order in qty of 6)

Took me a couple of hours to do it myself and it will take less than an hour next time.

Once it was up and running I adj the slip clutch all the way out (no tension on springs) and let it spin to clean the surfaces. I am amaized at how little tension the springs need to hold.

I still say its light duty under spec'd design
