My new 5035

   / My new 5035 #31
I followed this thread a couple years ago. How about an update on your 5035. Any problems and would you buy again?
I took delivery on my 5035 August of 2013 I only have a 165 hrs on it so far but it does almost all that I ask of it.

I've had a small hyd leak at about 30 hrs, .10$ O-ring, I had a coolant leak ~75 hrs, factory mailed me parts. and now I have a hint of a diesel leak that I can't exactly track down. O, and I just broke off my hood latch button... I caught it on some brush I was clearing I think.

If I had to do it again I'd probably buy the same.

I use a box blade on it, a 6' shredder, the bucket on the FEL and a hydraulic auger on the FEL. and my most usefull tool that I wouldn't trade for anything is my pallet forks.

Hello,
really enjoyed the pics and your review. I have just ordered the same beast here in Australia delivery in a few weeks. Thoroughly agreed with your observations about the build quality and value. My local distributor just 10klms up the road is another "Wallace tractors" so hoping that is a good omen too.

Looking forward to joining the 5035 squad.

Cheers
B.R.

I really appreciate your post and pictures. I agree that I use our forks on the 5740 more then anything else and can't believe I did not have a set for our old 4310. Your pics really brought Mahindra back into play in my search. Thanks again for sharing!

I got my 4035 about the same time and am up to nearly 300 hours. Mine has a few scuffs too, so don't feel bad. Agreed on the forks, they're one of the most useful tools to have.

On the "hint of diesel" you think may be leaking, check and see if you have the old style braided fuel lines. If so you're getting the smell of diesel coming from the return line where it goes to the tank. The 35 series of the era of ours had a known problem with the fuel lines that came from the factory. They came up with a replacement line that more closely resembles a high pressure line like for hydraulics.

Old is on the left, new is on the right.

When you have the bad/braided lines, on the return side it will leak a very small amount of diesel as it is returning to the tank. Here is where mine was leaking.

When it leaks on the pressure side, it doesn't leak fuel out of the lines, it leaks air into the fuel flow causing the engine to run slightly lean. It can cause issues when the KSB timer (cold start assist device) kicks off after running for 20 minutes and the tractor can stall if idling. It can cause the tractor to be hard or slow to start. Eventually when the leak is bad enough, it is unable to draw fuel from the tank and won't run at all.

If you have the braided lines as shown above, get them changed ASAP as they're known to be the cause of many issues.
