John Deere 5045D, International Farmall 140
Well, I finally found a little time to get back on here and follow up about my purchase. I recently pulled the trigger on a 5045D, 512 loader, bail spike, and a 6' Frontier brush hog. I got it all up to the farm and so far I have put about 20 hours on it. I'm very impressed with the overall quality and performance of the machine so far. It mainly has been used for mowing pastures and carrying rolls of hay, but I have done a little bit of dirt work around my pond with it. This was the first new tractor I have ever purchased, and all in all, I couldn't be happier.

I only mention this because I am unaware of your experience level, so please don't take offence.
If you don't have a counterweight, you may wan't to make/buy one. Facing downhill, with a loaded bucket and a 2WD tractor get's interesting fast. A little extra weight on the back, may keep you out of the pond.

Best, Bill

Sorry, for the delayed response, I didn't notice so many people had commented. Bill, I do not have a counter weight yet, but it is in the plans. I have not used the loader without either the brush hog, or a roll of hay on the back. My property is also relatively flat, so that helps.

What size trailer is that?

It is an 18'x83" 16' deck 2' dovetail. It was a little tight, but I hadn't had a gooseneck hookup installed in the truck yet so we just made it work. Hopefully, there wont be any need to move it again.

Patrick, I never had a issue with weight on mine even with a loaded bucket. You could always keep a load on the 3 point of some kind.

Strong tractor. I had one for 3 years then got almost all my money back when I traded it for a 5083E. Trade value on green tractors rock!

Resale value is one of the major factors that caused me to buy green over the other brands I looked at. While I have no plans on needing a larger tractor, its nice to know that I wont be too upside down if I do need to trade it in. Also, it was really hard to beat John Deere's 0% interest for 60 months financing.
