Yeah, and that is the flaw in the Markham/Gator design - no solid plate at all, and it could really use one under the SSQA mounts. It looks like yours has solid plates on the sides in front of the SSQA and then is open in the middle. I like the expanded metal I added and how it helps my use, but yours looks to be "properly" design, IMHO. We can argue about the expanded vs open, and I can see either side of that argument. Depends on your preference.The "standard" SSQA mount does not require a solid back even though most are built that way. It is possible to just have two smaller solid pieces at each side with a clear area in the middle. This second type, perhaps with a mesh brush protector would allow much better visibility for the grapple operator.
