Tractor
BX-23
Last December we completed building a house on our new property. Around March I started thinking that I need a tractor, its then that I found TBN. Soon after that a BX-23 was delivered and I was getting "seat-time".
Having the tractor has been great. And this website/forum has been very helpful in owning/maintaining my investment.

Some of the projects I've done:

Cleared land and planted ~50 avocado trees. The backhoe has been great, I can dig a 5 gallon hole in under 2 minutes and not break a sweat.

Dug out lots of scrub oak stumps.

Dig two holes for the cable company. They were going to dig these 6' deep holes by hand! I offered to dig them for $25 each. They promptly accepted! I didn't expect the tractor to be making me so much money! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

150' x 18" deep in a mater of hours. That backhoe is great!

Moving/spreading 15 yards of manure for the future front and back yard.

Moving good sized rocks, just because I can move them.
The list goes on and on...

But I have a question that I haven't seen addressed here,
Is it normal for the backhoe to slowly sink to the ground overnight? The bucket will be touching the ground in two days if I don't put the pin in. I've looked for leaks, but haven't found any. Being new to hydraulic equipment I don't know if this is normal. I think my front bucket also creeps down, but its not as noticable.

Another picture:

It amazes me how good this little tractor works. This picture is digging two holes for the cable company. The hole is 6' deep with only a 2.5' long opening.

My backhoe will lower the same as you describe. Same for my 3PH and loader. I have read the explanation of why this happens, but will leave it to others to describe.

Congrats on your new tractor and good job on the pics. I notice the front tires look like they might be a bit squished (underinflated) with that big rock in the FEL. Maximum inflation pressure is imprinted on the sidewall of the tire. Could easily be an illusion as well, but thought I'd mention it.

Matteo92065:

Your tractor looks great, neighbor! I'm also from Ramona and just purchased a new B3030HSD about 6 weeks ago for my business and home. I love it! I did a lot of prior research and almost bought another green and yellow, but when I saw the new B3030's, I fell in love. I've got 59 hours on it to date and it's performed without a flaw. You're welcome to stop over and see it sometime.

This is simply called leak down or gravity at work. Most equipment will do it as the preassure is slowly released by the valve. We have new equipement on our lot from 4 different mfgs that do the same thing. Congratulations on the new purchase!

Sounds like your having fun with your new tractor. My wife is looking at getting a BX23 for herself should finances appear favorable. Myself I have a Kubota M105S and also greatly enjoy getting alot of things done with it.
As to your hydraulic problem. You really have none. It is common when the tractor is shut down with no hydraulic pressure to keep the backhoe or loader in place that they will settle to the ground. I always put my bucket down when I'm done for the day. On your backhoe you can do the same thing. If you don't want to be bothered with picking it back up just put in the large traveling pin to hold it in place.
If and when you end up with a hydraulic problem, unless it's the pump you'll end up finding a puddle of hydraulic fluid unless a hose bust on you while you're operating it.
Anyway, relax and enjoy your new tractor.

jlsmaine,

Welcome to TBN!!
Wow, an M105S!! I sat in the seat of one of those recently and dreamed of owning a sqare mile of land (or maybe a few sections /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif) so that I might need one. All I can say is I would really like to operate one of those, at least once. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Welcome and thanks for posting!

I know it's been addressed here cause that's where I found my answer to the same question.
It's Normal.

Had you ever ran a bh prior to getting Your BX 23 .
I had not.

Congratulations!

My story was similar. Bought 3 acres, then realized I needed a tractor. The BX-23 is an amazing machine, esp. in such a small package.

Expect some shakedown issues, but this bulletin board is BY FAR the best resource to help with specific problems.

But for crying out loud, get some scratches and dust on that thing, will ya?
