I think it's great!!! I'm very impressed with the way it mows, and my garden and trees have never looked so good after rototilling. I can drop this thing in the praire and till (albeit we've had a wet spring).

I walked through the manual to see how the dealer had set up the deck... it was perfect.

Two things... I've been thinking of getting the FEL. Do other owners use their front end loaders much (is it a good investment)? Also, is there any way to attach a tachometer... I have no idea where to set the throttle when mowing or tilling, although I must admit doing it by ear seems to work pretty well. I'm just a bit afraid of over reving the engine. For most work, the throttle is pointing straight right.

14 hours, and I'm still on the original tank of fuel!

By the way, my fuel gauge seems to be a bit erratic, ranging from showing nearly empty (which it is) to about 1/2 full. Has anyone else experienced this?

Welcome!

You asked about using a FEL and if it was worth it. When I got my 2200 I had the FEL installed. Glad I did. I use it almost daily from digging out and pulling down piles of dirt left over from a previous logging operation, digging out stumps, lift heavy object on and off trailers, moving firewood, holding dirt while transplanting bushes, in short, it's a powered wheel barrow that you don't have to move by hand.
I installed a small tach called tiny tach from a company in Illinois. There is a thread in the Kubota owning/ops area that discusses the use and installation of these very small and useful tachs.
You'll be impressed with your machine.

Run that sucker wide open! If you need more throttle give it more throttle, the engine will last longer if you don't lug it.As for over revving , that is impossible without messing with the governor.Your engine is not going to suffer if you ran it wide open every time you started it.Have fun and push it to the limit , you didn't buy a piece of junk.

Congrats on the new machine. My fuel gauge does the same thing, sloshing all around, there are no baffles I'd guess and/or no electrical damping mechanism. Doesn't really hurt anything though, you just have to "average it" in your head.

The engine is rated at max HP at it's max RPM, I don't think you can overrev it unless something is set up wrong. I regularly mow at near max rpm or at max rpm. For most work, like using the FEL, much less is plenty.

The BX FEL can do real work, it's very useful. Moving dirt, stone, mulch, trees, snow, etc. The problem for me is, I also need the BX for lots of mowing, and I don't to mow with the FEL on (although you could I guess). While the FEL isn't hard to put on/off, it's enough of a hassle that I don't want to do it every week. I need either TWO BX's, or more realisitically, the BX and a ZTR mower. Then I could leave the FEL and tiller on the BX.. ahhhh, let me just bask in that though for a moment! ;-)

You asked about a tach for BX2200, go to www.tinytach.com, click on tiny tach, then click on commercial, then select the DLL model, I ordered mine and it was here in a few days, with an invoice attached, I couldn't believe they sent it with no info from me. Order the transducer size for 6 mm fuel line. It's simple to hook up and you can mount it almost anywhere with velcro or double sided tape.

Welcome to the BX2200 club! There are quite a few of us here now! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeah, the fuel guage is pretty funky. I really only pay attention to it when I'm stopped on a level surface, and even then I'm not really sure... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif But it gets wonderful "mileage" at about 1/3 gallon per hour.

FEL, do I get much use from it? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

You betcha! I've used it for brush clearing, lawn scraping, patio digging, loam hauling, bark mulching, trash hauling, snow clearing, ... well, you get the picture! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

milkman-
Thanks for supplying the link.....I had it somewhere in my files but I'll be darned if I know where it is. I too was surprised that they would send the tach without knowing who or what I was. Mine works great and appears to be very reliable. I passed the info on to my dealer who knew nothing about the tinytach and how good they are...

welcome to the forum! u dont say much in your profile so we don't know how much land and what your uses will be, but i will give u my thoughts on the fel. I LIKE TO THINK OF IT AS BUYING A FEL WITH TRACTOR ATTACHED! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif i could not imagine having a tractor with out a fel.

Hello AHuculak... I too am a happy owner of a BX2200 and a Tiny Tach. Here is a recent thread that dealt with installing a Tiny Tach on the BX2200. If you decide to get one you may find this thread useful. Tiny Tach thread
