My new 5' land plane is being delivered today. Can't wait to try it out on the new driveway this weekend. Like you, we are building a new home and I will be using it to smooth out the new yard.

You are going to love the way it takes out the sticks and rocks from the soil.......and the driveway is like butter! Don't think its gonna do anything with snow....:laughing:

Ha ha...yeah, I'm not sure how I'm going to clear the snow off our 1/4 mile drive yet. I guess it will just be a combination of the loader and rear 5' blade for now.

You'll find that bucket that looks so big quickly gets very small when you try to move snow with it. You will want to use it only for the tight spots like around the parking area. The rear blade is the most useful tool unless you can justify a snow-thrower.
When you get drifts too deep for the rear blade it takes "forever" to clear them with the FEL. Likewise when you don't push the snow far enough to the side and then get repeated storms that require moving it, and it's frozen to ice so solid the rear blade won't touch it.

Oh yeah, not intending to really use the FEL for plowing snow, just tight spots like you mentioned. We don't get that much snow here, and rarely anything very deep, so shouldn't be too bad. Not sure how it will drift though, so that will be interesting.
