Sorry about your losses, we are surrounded by a forest/grassland fire here in Ruidoso area as I type this.

The T4030 with hydraulic reverser 16F/16R is about as close as you will find in a new tractor. More range choices but very similar to your tractor in most ways. I would make sure the one you get has this transmission.

Here's a couple of pics from out fire Sunday evening and later at night. This is about 8 to 10 miles long on the side of the mountain with high winds 40 to 60 mph.

Sorry to hear about your wild fires. Puts my little fire into perspective.

You suggest the hydraulic reverser 16F/16R. May I ask why?

It is the closest match to what you have, they no longer offer the 8 speed. The other transmissions are mechanical shuttle and you would need to clutch to change directions.

Doc, I'm very sorry about your loss and just happy you did not get seriously hurt. I read about your turkey frying in the other thread in the JD forum. You can replace that tractor and your barn, but I can identify completely with you and understand how in hindsight everything you did wrong is so clear now.

I used to deep fry okra and French fries over my open flame turkey fryer base. One time I put a Dutch oven without the lid on the cooker to fry some frozen crinkle cut fries. The Dutch oven was much smaller in diameter than my regular deep fry pan. I should have thawed the fries and patted them dry, but didn't. When I put just a handful of fries into the oil using a flat ladle with holes in it, it started popping and sizzling. I was holding the fries just at the top of the oil and the tiny oil droplets came over the sides of the Dutch oven and directly onto the open flame. In an instant, the whole cooker, my ladle, and my hand were surrounded in flame as the fireball was about 3' in diameter. Later, I learned that the thermometer I was using was defective and the oil must have been nearly to 450 instead of 365 degrees F. If I had been wearing a pot holder mitt as I should have, I would not have been injured. As it was, I had to make a trip to the ER for treatment of a burn on my hand. Luckily, there was no danger of any other fire because the small amount of fries had very little water that instantly vaporized. I got a good lesson that day and a bit painful too.:(

It was wild watching the oil fire. I thought my hand held fire extinguisher would stop it. What a waste of time. Now, I am looking at replacing my TN70A. Had less than 600 hrs on it. I was not injured other than my pride.
