Very nice! Looks like you have a few more attachments
than Taiser has for his 7800. I wish I had a backhoe for
mine. Have fun!

Taiser and I have been sharing stories, he has a very nice setup, I monitored his and Timbers emails before I settled on the B7800 this past January.

bialecki,

Real nice setup ! thanks for sharing

I was wondering what are the differences between the Kubota backhoe and the Woods backhoe are, and what made you decide one over the other? - The woods looks awesome, especially with the thumb attachement

Duc
I went with the Woods due to the price, 4 point hitch, curved boom, the thumb, and the great service from Woodburytractor.com. Bob's store/ farm is only 10 miles away and his service is tops!

I see that the thumb is fixed, do they offer a hydraulic option for that as well. I assume you have a sub frame for the hoe. I know when I was buying my tractor and was tossing around the hoe Kubota didn't even want to sell me a kubota hoe because the woods was just a better unit. In the end it was more money then I wanted to spend. The wife wanted her pool and I got my tractor, seemed like a good trade off. maybe later this year I'll order my hoe. 8 grand is a lot of doe I like the dozer blade but I have a 42 inch snow blower for my Cub-Cadet so that is off my list. With all that ice we got I wound up taking the tooth bar off and backdraged the ice off the drive before it froze solid. I live i fear of lifting asphalt of my drive removing snow with the fel.

That's a very nice set-up you have. It looks like you have a heavy duty bucket on the FEL? I love the Woods backhoe. I had thought I would buy a backhoe with my new B7800 as well but I cheaped out and deferred the purchase...at least for now.

Hi Tmber, the thumb on the BH70-X is positioned manually, however, on the BH80-X there is a hydraulic option. The thumb feature cost me an additional $480 on the BH70-X I felt the additional money gave me more diversity to the implement and I could justify the BH a bit more.

You know its funny I went through a lot of thoughts on the Backhoe. I really would have liked one on my tractor but I am terrible for wanting the overkill so If I couldn't have the woods with the thumb I didn't want it at all. The reality is I relay don't need one at all. Don't get me wrong if I had it I could think of a million things to do with it. My thoughts are to get either a larger use Case or Ford or even better a Mini-Excavator. That would be my 1st choice. But who knows for 8 grand I think I can go in a different direction and keep my 3 point hitch available all the time. That is the real reason I bought the tractor in the 1st place

My Woods BH70-X with thumb installed and the tractored delivered was ~ $6400.

Have you pulled the plastic off the backhoe seat yet and dug a 'practice' ditch? It's good to start practicing with your new backhoe as soon as possible, even with snow on the ground. :)

Last Spring I had ~ .75 acres cleared and I was using the BH to dig up some of the smaller stumps left behind. Ground is really frozen, so it was difficult to dig through the 24" of frozen ground. Just going through the motions is good practice on how to use the BH safely.

Question; If I want to dig a trench around the perimeter of my home's foundation for a curtain drain, what would be the best position of the tractor to dig the trench versus positioning the tractor perpendicular to the foundation and moving it every two feet as I move along. At the corners of the foundation I can reach a good five to six feet and still be stable but the rest of the job seems like it would be tedious. Any Suggestions?
