I'm a firm believer in 3/4ton+ trucks. But, you could most likely tow your tractorwith a Toy. It would be worth every penny though, to buy a good brake controller, and ensure it's working well.

Keep in mind a lot of trailers weigh close to 2000 lbs, so you would possibly be pushing the limits of your Toy with a bare tractor/trailer. Most likely, you will want to take some tools, ice chest, cans of fuel, and "stuff"; All of that adds up too.

Each axle is rated at 3500 lbs, thus 7000 lbs minus the wieght of the bed. Somewhere around 5000 ibs carring ability. Talking about pulling with a small pickup, it is easier to pull than to stop. Common sense will usually tell you if you should use a pickup or not. Remember that when you stop the only thing keeping you from being pushed around the road is e small pieces of rubber with some tracks on the rubber. The stopping force is the coeffeicent of friction of the small tire area and the wieght of the pickup applied to the small pieces of rubber. The weight of the pickup would have to be divided between the pickup tires and the weight of the trailer to the trailer tires of course this only applies if your pickup is on level ground, if on the incline the weight is reduced for it is only the normal weight not the total weight of the pickup. Whoa you all have not paid tution so I better stop.

RobertN,
Thanks for the advice. I think I will borrow my buddies Ford and tow it safely. I don't need to tow it arround much so doing it right 1 or 2 times a year will prolong the life of my yota.

ddl,
Thanks for the info on your trailer. I don't think the toyota should be towing that kind of weight. Even though I think toyota makes a unbreakable truck. They have limits and I think this would be one of them.

Don't forget that the trailer has brakes as well. And can brake for the truck as well as the trailer. I use the wife's Jeep to tow my trailer with no problems. I wouldn't want to do it every day, but the few times a year that I do, it seems to be fine. Attached is a photo of the set-up.

FarmerBob,
Thanks, This was taken at my antique shop last fall. It was built if 1838 and is 4500sq.ft. It sits on 3 acs. right on the main st. in a small village. It is the focal point in the village, which is nice. But everyone has an opinion on everything I do with the place! I got a bunch of complaints when I put my B8200 out front for sale, even from the village. They thought it just didn't look right. But then right across the street there was a backhoe with a for sale sign on it! Go figure! I finally told the village to buy me out or get off my back. Since I am not in violation of any codes they have left me alone. I guess you can't please everyone.

Pulling in a straight line is usually not a problem, it is the stopping that is a problem. Brakes on the trailer is a good idea but they only stop the tire from turning so the normal force of the trailer and the coefficient of friction of the tire suface can stop the trailer, also brakes only slow the tires so the coefficent of friction is lower, you still need the wieght of the pickup and trailer to stop safely.
