What size is the bushhog that you are using? I have a 7 foot , Bushhog 305 with dual tail wheels, that I have used slightly with my 7010. I put the PTO selector in 750 RPM gear and throttle back to about 1600-1700 RPM (1800 would be 72% of 2500 which IIRC is the PTO speed). Plenty of power and not any strain to the engine. Saves a lot of fuel that way when not in really heavy stuff.

Was out on the LS moving some dirt to shore up the pond dikes a bit. Weatherman predicting 4" of rain in the next storm and the ponds are at level with the dikes now. Anyway noticed that the LS 540 speed is 1950 rather than 2500 so I guess I was confused with the Kubota which is about that RPM which is full throttle for 540 on it. My LS runs 2500+ at full throttle. Anyway when using the 750 PTO gear the correct throttle would be 1400-1500 (1404 calculated) which works for me.

That must have been a pretty good deal, its less by $300 than what I paid 2 years ago. But of course I didnt have the time to dicker with them and try to get a reduction in price. I was still working overseas and wanted to get the tractor before I went back from my R&R. I sure takes a lot of time searching dealers for all the makes and driving from one the the other. I was checking all brands so it was time consuming and I only had about 2 weeks to find one I liked and get it delivered so I know I paid way more than I might could have gotten if taking a year or so to dicker. It was still less than the smaller HP by the competition so I was happy.

Gary, I have a 7' bush hog (Howse) with dual tail wheels and it seems to cut very well. I have been running at 1,600-1,800 RPM with the PTO in the 540 mode and it has been great, I may see how it performs with the 750 selection. Been cutting mesquites that are 1-2" at the base with no problems. As for the tractor it was $36,500 delivered and tires filled with sealant. I thought it was a good price as far as the dealer had to deliver. I hope to get some seat time today, will be a good chance to test out the earlier PTO question also.

I dont run mine at the 1950 RPM even when in 540. It cuts good at 1500 or so, but my blades are brand new with only about 2 hours of run time. 540 is 72% of 750 so if the engine speed is 1950 RPM for 540 then 72% of that is 1404. Probably not enough RPM for heavy cutting but it works good for weeds which is all I have to cut now and not much of that. I just throttle back, gear up for the speed of travel I need and go.
About the time I got all my big equipment for mowing we got drought conditions during summer so not much grew including weeds. Cows overgrazed the grass and brother in law has 5 or 6 goats and they eat down all the weeds to so bushhog has been setting on blocks for 2 years. I just blow off the leaves and wash it down every now and then.
