Larry, thats a beautiful machine you have there. I could see some teeth shining in that one photo where you were about to fire it up. Life is good. Enjoy your new tractor.

happy plowing..... sassafras

Larry, I see the front end riding in the air and the bucket level so I know you have a dirt driveway. You might want to get a piece of pipe about 2" in diameter and slot it to slide over the bucket cutting edge. Drill three holes or burn three holes and then weld three 1/2" nuts on the top to put bolts into to secure to the bucket lip. That way when you go to clean you won't be bringing up the driveway or lawn. By the way, you look good on it!!!!

art,

Thanks for the advice. Normally I'll have the leading edge tilted up just a bit so I don't cut in so hard, but the ice was so thick and hard here that I would just ride up on it. I was actually using down-pressure instead of float to get some weight on it. Shouldn't be so much of a problem when I can keep the driveway clean after each snow, but if it is I'll rig up a pipe-edge like you mention.

Hey Pete,

Thanks. I was pretty excited about it. Somehow I don't think my wife completely shared my enthusiasm. (She found work for it right away though. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif ) I think she's just glad that I'm done talking about getting a new tractor.

I'm sure I will enjoy this thing for years to come. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

hillslider,

Thanks for the kind words. I'm enjoying it so far.

BTW - Where abouts in Northern WI are you from? I'm from Northern MN (Grand Rapids/Hill City area).

DAP,

Thanks! I couldn't bring myself to part with the 5-6 grand for a factory cab right now and it USUALLY isn't as cold for as long as it has been this year. This is Maryland for crying-out-loud... almost feels like I'm back in Minnesota - but not quite. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Maybe someday I'll add an aftermarket cab. I can dress for the cold, but the summer heat on the other hand??? We'll have to wait and see.

Nice tractor. Welcome to the larger Kubota family. I think the little ones are cute like the BX's, but they don't cut it for real work. 40Chicks will agree with that.

I too am partial to a cab. Michigan gets cold in the winter and hot in the summer. The climate control evens that out. Besides, the Kubotas run so quiet that the am-fm cassette is music to your ears (to quote a Kubota advertising blurb).

My 5030 will be up sizing to a 9000 in one more year. I like the 5030 so much, I think I will keep it around for the lighter farm tasks.
