The " Lock Covers " are actually flat pieces of rubber held in place with 1" wide flat strips of 16 gauge galvy steel and self tapping screws. In the winter......... snow, rain and moisture would seep into the lock and freeze it up. I'd have to heat them with a torch to unfreeze them. As for the locks, I went to Home Depot and purchased 4 of the largest Master Locks I could fit in the lock handle holes. If you look on the lock packaging for the key codes you can get all 4 locks the same on 1 key. I enjoy building things. I take my time and there is no way I could make a living doing that. I'm too fussy and take to way too long. I usually have a radio playing loud rock music and I just enjoy it...... Frank

Here is a picture of the Project as of today January 29, 2013. I have done nothing for the past month. The temperature last week was 15 below and with the snow last night and the rain tomorrow, maybe I can continue on it next week. Frank

Looks great! I've wanted to add something similar to a box van body we use for storage at home. It wasn't going to be as pretty as yours but you've raised the bar so to speak

I've not penetrated the roof at all. The wall supports on the left side are carried on the roof but the fasteners are on the side. I'll most likely rubber the roof for protection and to keep it from rusting, until I build the other side. Frank

Since I want to rubber the roof of the container only, where can I purchase a piece 10' wide by 21' long. I also need the adhesive. This is the rubber which is used on commercial buildings and held down with rocks for ballast. I just won't use the rocks. Frank

I found that when I've done ponds, the cheapest prices for good quality, heavy duty and large pieces of rubber where online. I also found that just because one place had the best price, they didn't still have the best price. Google it and compare shipping costs. The time it takes to find the best deal is worth it.

I would check on the price of EDPM roofing for RV's it might be less costly as it does not need to be non-toxic, which is a requirement for ponds.

Clean the area well so the glue will stick. And I would fold the edges down over the sides a little if possible.

Id like to know how the rubber price comes out. Id almost think that a few rafters and some metal ove rhte other side would be cheaper and could be extended in the future. where the rubber might only be used for one year till the second side goes up. Just my opinion..

1 of the places I linked to has his size for about 120.00 plus shipping, that's actually pretty cheap compared to lumber and metal.

Well, Because of all of the snow this winter, there has been no progress on my shed since January. Also, I checked the level on the container and the frame with a laser level and everything is still right on the mark. Were in the mud now with warmer days and cold nights so if no more snow arrives I'll be back to working on it next week. Frank

Another option for the roof.

Add a layer of 1/2" CDX plywood, then roofing felt and your metal roofing.

It should help prevent condensation under the roof.
