...was a great help cleaning up this 3.7 acres -
combing cut brush out of the grass prior to shredding, hearding the brush into burn piles, and dragging chunks of concrete too heavy to lift.

Yep, that's a toothbar!
I moved some chunks of concrete similar to that a couple of hours ago. I wasn't able to get them into the loader, so I slung them with chains and lifted them in a similar fashion, hooked onto the front edge of the FEL. I drove them to my creek, set them down, unhooked the chains and flipped them into the side of a creek bank to help prevent errosion.
I think it's easier to finesse rocks and concrete with a toothbar and after lifting and flipping some of the bigger slabs onto each other they cracked and broke and were easier to manage.

A loader without a toothbar is like a hand without fingers. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Boy, do I ever agree with that, Jinman! I started excavating for a small landscaping pond this weekend. The BH is going to be great for cleaning up the edges, but it would take forever to do the whole area w/it.

About 3 hours of seat time this afternoon, and I took an area about 15x35 down about 2', despite frequently running into buried boulders up to 1.5' diam. With the toothbar, you can get under 'em enough to loosen them and then curl them up to the surface; and from there it's easy. I'm gonna post some pics of this in "projects" when the rough excavation is done. Should take another couple of weekends, but I won't be gettin' back to it for another 3 weeks since we're going to be away for a bit.

....gotta love them toothbars. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well said Jinman. Everytime I use mine, I understand even more.

Took out a 20 in locust stump this weekend with mine by digging around it on 4 sides and then popped it right out. Took 5 minutes and my rotary cutter is soooo happy too. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
