My \"NEW\" Tractor

I bought my 1820D about a month ago from tripleDDD. Just now got ahold of a digital camera. Ain"t it sweet!!! My very first tractor and it's great. Dunno how I ever made it this far in life without one! Power steering and powershift makes the wife feel confident using it also. Nothing Like wathching the envious stares of my neighbors as i sit on the porch enjoying my favorite cold beverage while the wife tills the garden!!!

Re: My \"NEW\" Tractor

Anyone have an idea what the knob valve between the legs and down from the seat does?

Re: My \"NEW\" Tractor

A similar knob on Kubotas controls the rate of descent of your three point lift. Experiment with care!

Re: My

That valve turned clockwise holds your 3 point lift in position in case you want to lift and lock it to work on an implement, be sure to turn it back off when finished. A small lever under the seat controls the rate of descent. About 2 sec. to drop is normal.

Re: My \"NEW\" Tractor

Nice tractor! Not many have power-steeering and rear tilt. You did well. The knobs control the UFO, which is what the rear tilt is called in Japan. There should be a black box hooked up to the tiller with wires that plug in near the seat. You can set the controls to have it automatically keep the tiller level. Neat idea, but they normally don't work. Even so, the tilt part itself is very nice. Enjoy, you got a nice model.

Re: My \"NEW\" Tractor

I'm not real sure about those switches. there seems to be some sort of relay on the tiller but no wires.

Re: My \"NEW\" Tractor

Thanks Ket, I think from the replies so far that it controls hydraulic fluid to the three point. BUT I'm still not sure how to adjust it and when to adjust it or if it's dangerous to adjust it or exactly HOW or in what way it controls the 3 point. Why would i need to adjust it. The only reason that makes sense is the one about locking it in the up position to work on an attachment. I'm thinking I'm gonna leave that sucker alone until i get an english owners manual. Unless someone can tell me for sure how to use it. In great detail. Thanks guys rccoyote

"Unless someone can tell me for sure how to use it. In great detail."

Here's your great detail.... It also locks it in the down position, or wherever it happens to be when you close the valve. It is called a "stop valve" for obvious reasons. It is either open or closed, no adjustment.

Re: My \"NEW\" Tractor

Here's your great detail....

Could you maybe go into a little greater detail on your great detail. What happens if i run the tractor with the valve closed? any damage to the hydraulics. Can i operate the Fel when this valve is closed?? all the hydraulics seem to run off of one pump on my tractor so i would hate to damage something expensive by messing with a valve until i know what it does in GREAT detail. Thanks normde2001. all info is very helpful. This is my first tractor so I'm being kinda gunshy with it. Even though it was a great deal it was still a good chunk o change!

Re: My \"NEW\" Tractor

I have closed this valve on my tractor and it does stop the 3pt from moveing up or down.. I dont think it will hurt anything leaveing it closed but not positive.. I have used it when working on something on tractor(tractor Off) so it stays in position. but not when running.. I can also adjust rate or speed impliment lifts or drops with this valve.. I dont mind it coming up fast but when I set something down I like it slow so it does not slam the ground

Re: My \"NEW\" Tractor

As long as you do not operate the rear hydraulics, the fluid is diverted back into the tractor and it is safe have the stop valve closed.

If you operate the three point hydraulic valve with the stop valve closed, then the fluid have no where to go. This is bad for your pump.

The exception...

There is usally a hydraulic port on the 3 point hydraulic valve. So you can connect and additional hydraulic implement instead of your three point lift cylinder that is operated from your three point valve. Once you make the connection, then by closing the stop valve, you divert the fluid to your additional implement.

Re: My \"NEW\" Tractor

Thanks Kieth, you answered some of my concerns(most). If I understand (correct me if i'm wrong) I can tap into the rear hydraulics to add ,say a log splitter, and when i have the splitter attached , i would close this valve to operate the splitter with the tractor hydraulics. This would be great! Thanks again. I'm learnin' as i go!! rccoyote

Re: My \"NEW\" Tractor

All of the Yanmars I have put remote hydraulics on used an open center valve and was tapped in series with the high side line.

Re: My \"NEW\" Tractor

looks the like the knob that will control the speed at which your 3pt. will desend.
