My NH dealer is gone

Drove about 30 minutes to pick up some hydraulic fluid and some oil filters and the dealership is gone. The note on the door said they had move everything to another town, about an hour and a half away. I think any dealer will now be at least an hour. I'm more worried about service in the future.

There is still a Case-IH dealer in the same town. I'm assuming that I should be able to pick up supplies for my TC40DA there. Correct? I didn't stop by today. I was in shock. Part of my reason for buying this tractor from this dealer was that they had been around for ever.

Unfortunately even a good dealer may be purchased or picked up by another one. The one you bought from maybe was struggling and saw a slow in sales and had an opportunity to sell. The Case IH guy should be able to help you.

Most items can be had at the Case IH dealer. But, (and this is a big but), make sure that you do not use Case fluids thinking they are same as NH fluids. Hytrans Ultra from Case is not the same as NH 134G (just one example).

If they are identical machines, built on the same production line, other than warranty why is one fluid better than the other to use?

Well, I drove the 2 hours (one each way) to check out the closest dealer. Neat lot and sales area. Had a couple of big YELLOW NH combines on the lot and a lot of new and used equipment. The kid (my guess is he might still be in high school) waiting on me was prompt and seemed to know what he was doing. He was dusting parts and the main parts guy cleaning the front door glass when I arrived. Only the parts department was open and it wasn't busy. But it was a good first impression.

They will service my tractor, but I suspect that the transportation cost won't be fun. At least I don't feel abandon any more.

It has been unseasonably warm here in south central Indiana. Gave the TC40DA a bath, after I topped off the hydraulic fluid. Sure is a nice color again.

I thought the same thing. I spoke to messicks.com and they made it very clear they are not the same fluid. Hytran should not be used in place of NH134G. Messicks sells Case and NH. Good enough for me.

This would be a great argument IF NH 134d and case hytran WERE hyd fluids.. but they aren't... they are UTF fluids.. that is.. they are made to be used in trans, hyds, diffy's, final drives, power steering.. etc. Plain old hyd fluid is made to be used in hyds.. etc.

While you may find a UTF that replaces both 134d and hytran.. I have also heard that hytran itself should not be used in machines not calling for it. Probably similar reasoning hytran/ultra and kubota udt/super udt.. etc..

Case dealers carry 134 oil also. You could also drain the 134 and refill with Hy tran, just do not mix the 2 fluids more than 10% either way as these two do not mix.
