My Peeve About Hardware Stores

I try not to bag much at Wal Mart but upon exit It does raise the attention of the 'greeter' even though though they just see you pass and pay a cashier. Im not gonna stop it tho.

...it seems to me that nearly all grocery stores use far more bags than needed. We do use some at home for waste basket liners, and we keep some in each vehicle for litter bags, but we have a place to store the excess and periodically take them to the recycling box at Walmart.

I have to laugh when I frequently buy 4 or 5 items at the grocery store and end up with 3 or 4 bags. What's the point of the bag.

My kid gets some kind of credit at school for bringing in grocery bags for recycling, so we just send a big armful with her a few times a year.

plastic bags are a BIG pet peeve of mine. Nowadays, cashiers DONT KNOW how to pack bags and ask if I prefer no bags for certain items. I despise plastic bags and use paper whenever I can. With paper, i can throw food leftovers from kitchen and take it downstairs to the stove and burn. I never put plastic in stove. I do use them for garbage, but i still end up with too many like others have mentioned. When I see the self checkouts, I love them since I can bag it the way i want and no bags if I can help it. no problems. If someone wants to stop me - fine! Once they get to know me, then they won't need to stop me anymore since I like to talk LOUD and ramble on while they are checking my stuff .:D It sure embarrasses them and they do hurry !! :D Sadly we dont get a discount for using the self checkouts. :mad: Sorry iplayfarmer, I know this is a hardware rant. HMMM . Yup , I noticed when going in lowes there might be a stray bolt or washer, but what do i do? leave it! I'll just keep rummageing in the bin till I find what i need.:rolleyes:

No worries. I just decided to get my peeve off my chest. It's fun to hear everyone else's gripes.

Still hate this one.

One of my My pet Peeves is concerning any store {not just hardware sores}
that does not have The entrance and exit doors side by side.This is especially bad for the handicapped which causes me to label such stores as non handy capped compliant in spite of them having handicapped stalls coming out the wazoo.
Wall mart and Lowes are bad about that as well as most other Big Box Stores.
It's also a saftey hazzard in case of a fire or other emergency.

I hate it when they put chips in the nut/ bolts and washers bag.:D

If this were the first time or the first store, I'd just roll with it, but all four of these bolts came out of the 5" bolt bin at the local hardware store.

Could be worse. Most stores don't even sell products in the quantity I want. If I want one bolt I have to buy a package of 6 along with enough plastic and cardboard to add significantly to global warming.

I agree. There are actually two hardware stores I can choose from. The one has open bins where I can buy 1 or 100 bolts whether they are the right size or not. The other only sells boxes. I choose the one with the open mixed up bins because I can get what I need. They do provide pretty good service too.
