Here is the weights I added to the back of my BX. Kind of a redneck setup but it probably adds about 120 lbs to the back. I already have loaded tires but that isn't quite enough.

Nice low budget ballast. "Use what you got" was my Grandfather's motto.

Good job. Every little bit helps.

Nothing wrong with that.

Lots of folks make rear counterweights with a concrete filled (or partially filled) 55 gallon drum with a spare drawbar inserted through the barrel in a suitable position and a suitable top link attachment.

Of course, a 55 gallon barrel would be much too large for your BX but you could make a concrete counter weight by constructing a suitably sized wooden form with a spare TSC drawbar inserted therein so as to create a 200 or 250 Lb. counterweight.

Necessity is the mother of invention.

Good use of what you have and a respectable job with barbell weights. I use 100 lbs of them clamped to the side of the tongue of farm equipment being hauled over the road to increase weight since it reduces fishtailing. I've had them on other things by welding a post to a plate and sliding on however many weights the job calls for. You can often find weights on the super cheap at thrift stores or resale stores.

Looks good to me. Its the best way I can think of to get good use of barbell weights. View attachment 547550. I made this "blob" years ago - calculated weight ~ 480#. I set it on the disk harrow when I need the extra weight.

Update - just looked at the pic of my "blob". Its probably closer to 475# now - age has caused it to "shed" a little weight.

As they say something better than nothing.

For front loader & mower use?

Mainly for loader work. I will probably take them off for mowing. I would have like some bigger plates but had trouble finding any around. I’ll probably keep my eyes open for a few more.

Soundguy has made weights from concrete that are impressive. Search for them in the Google box upper right.
