Nice video . I bet that seal was after the salt fish you had inside the shed . You better keep the door locked . Bob you got it all right . Salt fish , seal flippers and seal burgers . You even got snow that taste good .

:) A bit more info on the seal - his name is Twitter. Here's a picture of my followers on Twitter :)

Thanks Fidler4 and Beltzington :) Thinking about trying to get the video transitions a bit smoother... right now there is a bit of a "jump" from scene to scene. LOL re seal.

So I just published a new version of the video "My shed building story V2" This version has improved transitions between scenes but there are NO NEW SCENES and the new transitions make it longer. Here it is (not sure if the old version will still be available but I did classify it as "unlisted" on Youtube)

Thanks for sharing... something to be proud of and wonderful for the kids to see something from start to finish...

What a a great video. I only watched the first one but noticed at around 3 minutes and 30 seconds that you seemed to take a break. Look, let's have none of that taking it easy stuff.:laughing:

Thank you very much for taking the time to post. It made my day.

EDIT--and what great workmanship.

Well it is amazing how kids get into projects like this. The youngest one in the video is just so anxious to get projects going now that he is totally impressive. And, he can actually do real work to help you along :)

Very disappointed with the stuffed seal....

Couple questions on your construction, I am going to build a much smaller version of your shed and wondering how the floor, which appears to be 2x8 resting on wood beams, worked for you, is it fairly rigid and stable? Also, it appears you changed the method of roof construction for each end of the gable/rake why and which one do you prefer? Thanks.

My God Daughter/Niece would ask if I had any projects she could help me with... here was a 5 year old that wanted to know everything... how to change a tire, check oil and would ask for tools for her birthday... my brother kind of put a stop that that because he said he wasn't raising a mechanic... it was a lot of fun for the 3 or so years it lasted... she still says when something breaks that we should try to fix it before throwing it in the trash... I guess some lessons last.

Yes the floor is very stable. Besides the two pressure treated skids I had the advantage of a concrete walk running through the middle of the shed so blocking between the shed and floor joists gives lots of additional support. I wanted the far end of the shed roof to have a fairly significant overhang with the intention of making a small deck or work platform under it (never got to that though). The roof extension method seen in the photos appears to be used a lot in house construction (I had to do my share of research before and during the build to get it all right :)) Sorry about Twitter :)

Would be great if it were possible to do at least one project with kids/grandkids but with lots of challenges re motivating/distances etc. makes it not totally practical. The other day I was visiting my 20 year old granddaughter and she made a casual comment about all she learned from me - reality is we didn't do a lot projects together but she obviously remembers and kind of treasures it anyway. :)
