Not hard to blow the gearbox if you catch a 4" stone or as I did pick up an old scrap sngine starter that you should not ever left hanging oround.
Sounds to me like its not an blower gearbox issue, but improper shear pins being used...The pins should have sheard off WAY before any gearbox damage. OR using too light a blower for your machine....combined with the Grade 8 shear pins...
These blowers are built & designed to be "matched"..... just because its XX inches wide doesnt mean anything...for example, the blower I bought has a T60 PTO, Large Gearbox, #60 Chain running the Auger, etc..., you can get the same relative width blower with a T40 PTO Shaft, Smaller Gearbox, and a #50 Chain running the auger...oh yeah, the steel used to build the whole thing is a lighter gauge too...Easiest way to illustrate this would be to look up the specs on a Pronovost Puma 72" vs a 74"....theres more difference then just 2" of width...
