Here's my Irish Red & White Setter, Inde. The Red & Whites were the original color, they ended up breeding the white out of the setters when dog shows became popular, the solid red setter, thought to look flashier in the ring, became the dog of choice.
In or around the 1970’s to early 1980’s, there was a serious revival in Ireland and England and the breed is now becoming firmly established again. It's very hard to find breeders that have this type of dog in the US! From what I've read, most breeders do not want the bad/less desireable characteristics that seem to plague the red setters. They seem to be doing it the right way.
I'm pretty sure that when the time comes, we'll probably get another one, but two dogs in the house are MORE than enough for me!

In fact, if my wife had it HER way, this is what our house would look like: This is a picture of when our friend stopped by with her good lookin' boys last winter. The second one from the left is Ciaran, the second one from the right is Tweed. They are coming over again this weekend for a visit, hopefully the weather cooperates.

What type of dog is Scooter?

This guy showed up Christmas day. At first he was very nervous and kept his distance. The next day the kids made friends with him, then later on he would come up to Steph and me.

He looks like a pure bred Pointer, but from what we can tell, his tail has too much curl for judging. Otherwise, he's a good looking dog in great shape and very friendly.

Steph's five year old boy named him Sam.

I've been watching the new paper and classified ads looking for somebody to put a lost dog ad, but so far nothing. He didn't have a collar and there's no homes close by. There is a gas station just down the road that he may have come from, but without a collar we just don't know.

He loves to jump in the car, chase the dozer and explore the woods. He has a bark like a hound that Steph just loves.

Looks like a keeper unless we find his owners.

Yep, I'd say so; good looking dog. And I think that young man's gonna hate to lose a friend if the prior owner shows up.

Here's our new guy. We found him running loose and rescued him after nobody claimed him at the local pound.

DocHeb: Scooter is a"Puli", this is a Hungarian breed that goes back a couple of thousand years. Everywhere we go it seems he has a fan club. Where in the mitten are you?
