My wife is in the same league as above. When we supposed to have third date I called her and told her I have a job to do. I was finishing coworker's basement into a playroom to make few extra bucks. I told her I couldn't see her unless she would want to help me. She was there in 15 minutes. We started working and I am looking at this woman and thinking if is she really a female. I didn't need to tell her how to hold a hammer, drill or circular saw. She was pounding in framing nails in three or four hits, lifted a 4 by 8 sheet of drywall to the ceiling and while holding it by one hand on one side screwing drywall screws in with the other hand. She broke her nail and instead of crying just said 徹h sh..t ripped that off and kept working. Later on a blob of construction glue fell on her head and we had cut some hair off. She said only 徹h sh..t and asked for scissors. That day I told myself if I get a chance to marry her I would. Well we are 20 years together. When we were finishing our house few years back we lived in our garage (initially without a door) all summer without a toilet and only hardly working shower, I didn't hear a single complain.
She installed all the wiring with only single small mistake and we laid all the floors, installed AC, kitchen cabinets, bathrooms and plumbing together.
She can reverse trailer trough the hardware store warehouse without hitting anything, knows the wire gauges and bolt and nail sizes etc.
I got only top quality tools such as drills, saws, cordless tools, chainsaw etc at various occasions.
When we were looking for a tractor I wanted about 26-30 HP used machine, but she just drove to a TYM dealer and said just buy new so WE would enjoy it.
She can run a marathon in about 5 hours, ride a bicycle 100 miles and do it next day again, she drive her car fast.
She is a great gardener and excellent cook.
What else I can brag about? She has a movie star looks.

Wow! That's about all I can say, is Wow!

Let us not be too jealous of Redneck in Training: He may have a wonderful wife, but his tractor is a funny shade of orange. :)

Seriously, these are a great responses. Who else has a great story?

Jon

P.S.: My wife did her marathon in under 5 hours and drives a standard shift. :)

We've been together for 19 plus years. She's an excellent cook and pastry chef* as well as a wonderful mom. Has never said 'no' to any of my interests and only sometimes questions my efforts. She says I am right sometimes and when she does I get her to repeat it at least a dozen times and she has often said to others how things have paid off in the end for us that she initially questioned.

I support her horse interest 100% since it has allowed me to buy every tool (almost) to support HER habit... see where this is going? Just the other day we finished her round pin using the 'new' generator I dragged home the day before - "see dear - it is electric start - even you can start it when it is cold and snowy outside and the power is off" - someone has to tend to the fire!

We are a great team. Long story to 'romance stage' but it has worked for us.

She helped renovate our 200 year old house (we were just dating) and couldn't see the 'vision' but realizes in the end she has a great restored country home on 12 acres over looking the Atlantic with a wonderful barn filled(almost) with horses.

She works a 40-60 hour week as an executive and still puts up with my antics after all of these years.

She's just learning to drive the tractor so I can take some time off :) :)... and she has mastered most tools including my skill saw and wood splitter... a little nervous when it comes to chains saws though.

I need to build an implement shed this summer so I think she is a 'keeper'.

There are only a few things on the list that she refuses to help with but hey - 2 or 3 isn't bad.

She tolerated my protracted search(2-3 months of weekends/days off driving central Texas backroads) for some acreage originally intended as an investment and perhaps some recreational use.
She greenlighted the purchase of "the farm" and has been most supportive of my surprise, late in life, desire to be an ag operator even if on a small scale.
She has been most gracious about the tractor, sprayer, PHD, yard rake, seed/fert spreader, bush hog etc.
I can definitively say I married up.

Lloyd, a friend told me years ago not to begrudge my wife her horse habit, since it meant I could justify the purchase of any tool I wanted. Unfortunately, he neglected to tell me that, after horses, I couldn't afford those tools!
Although I coveted a tractor for years, my wife was the one who finally pushed for us to get one (the DK45SC). It turns out that I am no longer able to use the excuse that a job is too much for me to do by hand (an excuse that served me well for many years!); the Kioti is just the tool for all that manure moving and fence building, etc. We have 250 acres in PEI, so with a few more attachments, I could probably disappear into the woods and fields on the tractor and only have to come out again occasionally for fuel.

My wife is exceptional. My former neighbors saw my life at the worst. They waited until my life stabilized to introduce me to the woman I married. Prior to introducing me to her I had built my first house for the woman I thought I would go through time with. That woman changed her mind and married her coworker/boss. A year later I find out I have testicular cancer and since I was misdiagnosed twice I was late to the treatment for it.

The woman that is now my wife met me after I had sold my home and moving into an apartment, she was going through a divorce from her first husband. We dated and things were just different. She rode with me and my motorcycle (and still does).

Fast forward 15 years to a month ago and my almost 90 year old father was in the hospital because of a severe stroke. I spent nights there and would return after a few hours sleep. I didn't make it back in time, he past with her by his side.

When we got married he said that now he had a son and daughter in law. He considered her family not an in law.

And now she is going through what every wife dreams of..... Her mother-in-law will be moving in with us :) She is very open to it. And over the last three years she has supported me finacially and emotionally while I change careers to become a nurse.

I really am a lucky man.

You certainly are a lucky guy Jim, in more ways than one.

Good catch.

It's funny/interesting or not - how appropriate this thread is.
Our good friends of 25+ years are now separating. This is group number 4.

We got the news yesterday. Not sure of the details - but it hurts/depresses me.
Our relationship has had its ups and downs but we do realize, like anything, you have to work at it. And yes, your vows or commitment to each other should carry some weight and respect.

Thanks for this.

rd,

250 acres... my all time dream. That would keep me busy for the rest off my life and give me some seclusion too!

Horses are like wooden boats: a wooden boat is like a well you just keep pouring money into it and a horse is like a wooden boat - you spend far too much time dealing with it than riding/sailing it.

A close friend mentioned to us the other night "when we get a horse for our daughter, drop over any time and ask us for money" it is essentially the same thing. Out going cash. He also quoted his well respected grandfather - "at least you can eat an ox!" I tease my wife all the time with this one!

But truly - we all love our animals....
