Really beautiful location and home you have there. I like your setup, but I also agree, I don't see any mount supports, and if you start to drag that blower off one day and don't quite lift high enough, you may wear the whole setup!

Tom,

Thanks.

The rack is bolted to the floor but I did not attach it to the wall. The rack itself is very heavy and stable but I'm sure I could pull it over with the tractor if I really tried. I think it would take a real grunt from the tractor with the throttle set at just above idle. When using clamp on forks, one thing for sure is that you need to go slow and thoughtful. You need to continuously adjust the bucket curl as the forks are raised and lowered to keep the load somewhat level. With a heavy snowblower hanging off the front, by biggest fear is dumping the load /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I think the chances of me catching the rack and continuing to pull are very slim (I don't want to scratch that paint either /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) but, if I ever come close, I will add wall supports.

Very nice setup. Someday I hope to have just a garage, let alone one bigger than my house /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Good thinking strapping down the snowblower. I can only imagine it must be an unstable load.

What kind of fish? Not to get off topic...., but could you PM me with your setup? I'd like to put one of those running water deals in at my place and our weather is probably pretty similar. I'd like to hear your ideas.

It must ge great to have a shop large enough to park a trailer in it.

JC,

Or 2. The depth of the garage (36') was determined by what it would take to park the 2 trailers one in front of the other.
The garage is 35' deep where it attaches to the house (to match the house wall) but increase to 36' after the bend
The horse trailer hardly ever gets used, in fact, it was not even on the road last year. The dump trailer gets used frequently. The trailers and my old JD 755 sat outside for over a dozen years. The 4310 is being treated much better.

Larry,

I got them from a place called National Pad & Paper. They are located on Thompson road between Carrier Circle and James Street, across from the NYNEX building. No sign out front. The office is located way around the back of an industrial warehouse. The stuff is picked up, or can be looked at, at a loading door facing Thompson road. This guy specializes in all kinds of used stuff including fork lifts, man lifts, mobile ladders, etc. His inventory is constantly changing.

The 10' high by 48"deep uprights were $60 each. He has different heights and depths.

The 99" cross bars were $16 each, 2 are needed for each shelf. I could have gotten 96" or 102" for the same price. At the time I was there I wasn't sure I could fit the 102". As it turns out I could have gotten the 108" and still been alright. I think the 108" were more money.

I added by own 2x4s and 3/4" plywood to make the shelf. He had wire decking but I wanted a solid shelf and I think the wood was cheaper in the long run.

Thanks Jeff, I'll swing in there and check them out.

Sounds like it could be an expensive trip if they got all that cool stuff in there, worse than Home Depot.

Thanks again, Larry
