The statistics say, 6 foot ladders cause a lot of injuries. 500,000 falls annually, 97% of those are at home.

I think that the triangulation of step ladders tends to fool us into thinking they are more stable than they often are.

Two things I tried with my last step ladder help a bit..... went to 7' - can still overreach any ladder, but I like that height for outdoor single-storey work. Penalty is slightly more cumbersome indoors.

Paid the money to move up to a heavier industrial 7' stepladder. I find the lightest spec aluminum step ladders are way too Flexy Flyer once moved onto anything but a flat hard surface - probably should only be used indoors.....

I know it could have been worse but somehow I can't be one of those that calls you lucky.
Whenever something like that happens to me and people tell me I am lucky I never see it that way. It would be a lot luckier if it never happened.
Speedy and successful recovery to you. Sorry to hear this occurred.

Fell off two foot ladder and hit sheet metal on way down. Cut pinkie and took Nick out of tendon. Have good motion in finger but still have some issues 25 years later

I freaking hate ladders especially outside on uneven ground. I’ll use my not safety approved man lift on the tractor anytime over a ladder. Not related to a ladder but my ankle that got broken in May is just now pretty much back to normal.

I have no fear of heights, I have a fear of low and the speed at which I can get there.
Last ladder incident was about ten years ago while fixing an antenna and discovering the TV had a live chassis when my forehead touched an element, 220vac at 50 hz and I could almost count every one of them.
Landed on a pile of corrugated iron fencing panels that collapsed when I hit them and sustained no injuries.
Mrs Bunyip not happy I wrecked her new fencing material, isn't love grand!
