My thoughts on towing with the new Suburban.

What's up, Tim.. Wish they offered the 6.2L in the Burb like you have in your truck. The 5.3 does good w the 3:42's and six speed. The 6.2L would do great. The crazy thing is you can get a Tahoe LTZ w a 6.2L....not the Suburban. Sometimes I question what the "shot callers" at GM are thinking. I love your truck. Rare opt machine you have.

Never checked but you can't get a 6.2 in a suburban?...That's odd although the 5.3 does a very good job in it's own right....The 6.2 in mine is just something I wanted in case we buy a travel trailer to replace our class C...Given the fits that thing is giving me, that might happen sooner rather than later..

That's a beautiful Suburban...Wish I could talk my wife into one....She won't give up her Hummer..Go figure.

That move to MO happened like really quick, find a nice place to live?

Should have specified "open trailer". An enclosed would make a big difference. Dash says 16.3 mpg. Calculated was 16 even. The terrain had a lot to do with the numbers also. Indiana is very flat and was half the trip. I would never see these numbers in the winding roads of the N Georgia mountains where I'm from.

Yea, I know the route well. I drive to St Louis and Perryville MO 4 or so times a year. Its a miserable boring drive.

16 mpg is impressive. What does it get without the trailer?

The Burb is the wife's grocery getter. She loves it. I drive it on the weekends or when I need the trailer. Let her test drive one. She'll fall in love and have no probs driving it. If she can drive a Hummer, she's got this all day long. I've known about the transfer for about a month. Put the home on the market and had 3 offers the 1st day. Didn't see that coming. The hardest part was finding a home here. The wife and I made several weekend trips to MO before finding a new home. We are looking at getting a toy hauler. Indiana is the only state we have lived in without owning an RV. I miss those weekend getaways. Here's the unit we are considering. Love the aluminum construction. Not able to give highway trip numbers yet. The wife was averaging 17ish according to the trip computer with most of her driving in town mixed with some short miles on I69.

The Suburban / Yukon XL has been about the best vehicle on the road in terms of what you get, fuel efficiency, and comfort. Looks pretty darn good too. My wife has been driving a 2001 Yukon XL for 12 years now, it has 200,000+ miles, still drives and looks great, and gets 16-18 mpg on the highway. Its also 4 wheel drive (those mileage figures are for 2 wheel drive). Had a 1998 Suburban before that. The 2001 model has the 5.3, maybe not quite as strong as the 5.7 in the '98 but plenty of motor. Other than a fuel pump ($700) the 2001 has not given any trouble at all. We have done maintenance - shocks, belts, tuneups, and a rear brake job. The only time I ever pulled a trailer I couldn't tell it was back there.

That's a sharp looking 'burb. Love that body style, and black works so well on them.
