What you described is exactly how mine happened, except mine didn't even have 15 minutes on. Found 4 and couldn't find the 5th lugnut. When I talked to the dealer he said not a problem, replaced the wheel, tire, the 5 lugnuts, & the hub. All at his doing w/o me asking or saying anything. I think I would want to have the hub replaced, I wouldn't settle for the retapping this could lead to future problems including trying to find replacement lugnuts if the need should ever arrise.

Sorry to hear that your wheel fell of too. Mine fell off at 160 hours I think. I was also the first to report it right here on Tractorbynet. Unfortunately I do not think that will be the last problem you will have with this New Holland model. I have posted often about my trials and tribulations in regards to my TC 24D. I think that the TC 24D is plagued with problems and New Holland knows it. There was a report and was also posted here that there is a shortage of TC 24D’s. One story which my be the official version states that they fell of a boat on the way to the U.S. Personally I think they were pushed off. The truth may well be that they are working out the problems that are being reported here and to dealers across the country. I keep reading about people getting all excited about the New Holland TC24D but no one is heeding the warning nor even questioning the reliability factor. I sure hope people are not sticking their heads in the sand or saying “that will not happen to me”. The truth is it will and it is only a matter of time. New Holland needs to prove to all of us who own the TC 24D that they have fixed all the issues that have cropped up in the initial production run of the tractor.
The wheel falling off your tractor was not your fault it was just a defect in the manufacture of the tractor. You are lucky it did not fall off at speed on the road or going up or down a steep slope otherwise we may be reading about this in the safety forum.
I have requested that my dealer take my tractor back and are urging New Holland to issue a recall of all New Holland TC 24D’s. Wheel falling off and fuel tank ruptures are not acceptable. If any car manufacture even had a hint of that many problems early in a production run you can bet they would want it fixed fast. I feel New Holland should do the right thing and issue the recall ASAP before someone gets hurt.

For some reason you seem to have an above average amount of problems with your tractor. We have sold many of these I even have one that has 1200 hours of hard use on it all ready with no reported problems from the owner. Some others have had some problems but not like yours. As far as the wheel problem goes the very early ones did not have this problem the most recent ones we sold have not had this problem either. This leads me to believe that some of the ones in the middle had bad bolts installed. My guess would be that New Holland recieved a bad bunch from there supplier so it is going to take time for them to get worked out of the system. Hopefully most of you with this problem have a great dealer that is handling the problem properly for you.

Spencer200, so what are my chances of New Holland taking back my tractor since I agree with you I am having a higher number of incidents than others. But in the defense of others I have heard of issues similar including the fuel tank rupturing.

I really do not get it, it’s not rocket science it’s a little tractor nothing complicated nothing fancy. I mean the dash of my Suburban has more parts than the whole tractor does. Ok maybe it’s bit of a stretch but you get my point.

I dont know but I would start calling until I got hold of the area district sales manager or service manager. The best thing for you now is to get hold of someone at New Holland to log an official complaint and get an incident number
